On 9 Jun 09 the Little Hocking Fire Department
transported Megan A. Vanhorn, age 23, 402 Poplar Avenue, Williamstown,
to Saint Joseph’s Hospital for treatment to injuries
suffered in an ATV accident. Operating the ATV on property
located at 4220 Welch Road, Cutler, Ms. Vanhorn attempted a
sharp turn on the off road vehicle when it overturned on top
of her. Ms. Vanhorn appears to have suffered a broken pelvis
and scratches to her arms (1293).
On 9 Jun 09 Deputy Sheriff Reynolds requested
a summons for Robert R. Ryan, age 38, 3300 Warren Chapel Road,
Marietta, for theft. An employee of Washington Electric reported
on 21 May 09 that Mr. Ryan removed a box placed over his electric
meter after the electric service the residence was shut off
for nonpayment. After Mr. Ryan removed the box he bypassed
the meter in order to restore electric to his home.
On 9 Jun 09 a Devola resident reported finding
a girl’s purple colored, twenty inch, Next Tiara bicycle
in a hay field in the vicinity of 1856 Masonic Park Road. This
case remains under investigation (1001).
On 9 Jun 09 Roy G. Graham, age 51, 6250 Sandhill
Road, Marietta, reported sometime between 10 am on 7 Jun and
10 pm on 9 Jun an unknown suspect(s) stole his prescription
bottle containing approximately twenty Darvocet pills. This
case remains under investigation (1104).
On 9 Jun 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
minor misdemeanor citation to Shawn J. Sims, age 19, 55011
Hudson Road, Reedsville, OH, for possession of marijuana. Conducting
a traffic stop on Mr. Sims’ vehicle for speeding on State
Route 7 near State Route 124, Deputy Smeeks noticed an odor
of burnt marijuana. Prompted to search the vehicle by a canine
indication for the presence of drugs, Deputy Smeeks located
a cigarette pack containing two burnt marijuana roaches. Since
Mr. Sims was the operator of the vehicle and because neither
passenger claimed ownership of the contraband, Mr. Sims received
the citation.
On 9 Jun 09 Lt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff
Smeeks responded to a domestic dispute at 10 Second Street,
Vincent. Interviewed by Deputy Smeeks, Kathy Jones, age 41,
said she was arguing with her husband and they were both shoving
each other. At one point during the incident Mrs. Jones said
her husband inadvertently hit her in the head with the back
of his hand. Neither party reported being in fear for their
safety nor did they threaten each other. As a result, Deputy
Smeeks closed this case as unfounded.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Carrie Michelle Bennett, age 34, 40 Hannah Place, Belpre,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Bennett was arrested
near milepost nine on State Route 339 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Jun
09 at 1:15 am.
Kevin Walter Reynolds, age 39, 8877 McKown Lane, McConnelsville,
for OVI, driving under a suspended license and speeding, all
misdemeanors. Reynolds was arrested near milepost on State
Route 339 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 9 Jun 09 at 1:15 am.
Jesse Aaron Anderson, age 26, 138 Franklin Street, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Anderson was arrested on Alta Street
by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9 Jun 09 at
6:55 am.
John Aaron Givens, age 28, 100B Linwood Avenue,
Marietta, for intimidation of a witness, a felony. Givens was
arrested on Sheldon Avenue in Marietta by Detective Staats
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 9 Jun 09 at 9:37 am.
Travis Lee Klein, age 20, 188 Dawes Circle, Marietta, for
failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Klein was arrested at his
residence by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 9 Jun 09 at 11:40 am.
Isaiah Howard Ohse, age 22, 105 A Colonial Square, Belpre,
for receiving stolen property, complicity and for possession
of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Ohse was arrested
in Belpre Mayor’s Court by Patrolman Augenstein of the
Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 9 Jun 09 at 12:01 pm.
Gary Lee Cable, age 28, 43425 Hohman Road, Caldwell, for failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor.
Cable was picked up at the Noble County line by Deputy Sheriff
Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on
9 Jun 09 at 12:35 pm.
James Preston Kilkenny, age 29, Marietta, for driving under
a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Kilkenny was picked up
at the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail by Corrections Officer
Ferrell and processed into the Washington County Jail on 9
Jun 09 at 5:22 pm.
