On 5 Jun 09 Nicole D. Efaw, age 23, 37 Mercer
Drive, Waterford, reported being involved in a domestic dispute
with her husband Shawn, age 22, over disciplining one of their
children. As the argument became increasingly heated, Mrs.
Efaw said she attempted to leave the residence with their two
children. Mrs. Efaw stated her husband would not allow her
to walk past him and at one point he grabbed and ripped her
shirt. Fearing for her safety, Mrs. Efaw said her husband scratched
her back and wildly flailed his arms during the incident. As
a result, Deputy Smeeks arrested Mr. Efaw for domestic violence
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
ADDITIONAL HEROIN TRAFFICKING ARRESTS
In continuation of the arrests of Christina Hines and David
Burns for trafficking in heroin last Friday, Detectives today
arrested Richard W. Hawkins, age 39, 101 Theis Avenue Lot 15,
Marietta, and Scott A. Hines, age 45, 271 Muskingum Drive,
Marietta, for multiple drug-related charges, including trafficking
in heroin.
Affidavits filed by Detectives allege Hawkins told a confidential
informant to meet with Hines at Starfire on Muskingum Drive
where a transaction involving the purchase of heroin for $50
would take place. At the gas station the informant met Hines,
who completed the transaction and who was later stopped for
a traffic violation by Detectives and marked units of the Marietta
Police Department. In his possession, Hines had the $50 buy
money, a balloon of black tar heroin and a syringe. For his
role, Hines was arrested for fifth degree felony charges of
trafficking in heroin and possession of heroin.
Nearly simultaneously, Hawkins’ mother permitted Detectives
to enter the residence she shares with her son. Located in
a bedroom, Hawkins resisted being taken into custody until
he was forcibly handcuffed. At that time Detectives noticed
a syringe containing a brown fluid in Hawkins’ hand.
Having blood on his hand, Detectives believe Hawkins was attempting
to inject the syringe into himself before his arrest. Ultimately,
Hawkins was arrested for a third degree felony charge of tampering
with evidence and for fifth degree felony charges of trafficking
in heroin and possession of heroin.
Hawkins and Hines are incarcerated in the Washington County
Jail without bond pending their initial court appearance Monday
afternoon.
