WOMAN STRUCK BY TRAIN
This morning at 10:30 am an engineer on a
CSX railroad train reported he watched in his rear view mirror
as an unknown Caucasian
female climbed the gravel grade up to the railroad track as
the train passed Veto Road. Stopping the train as he eventually
lost sight of the woman, the engineer and a conductor walked
back to the woman’s location. Though the CSX employees
discovered two moderate sized pools of blood the woman was
nowhere to be found. Responding Deputies were also unsuccessful
in locating the woman but asked local hospitals to be on the
alert for a woman with injuries that could have been suffered
as a result of the incident.
Shortly thereafter, Sgt. Underwood investigated a claim at
Camden Clark Hospital indicating a female walked into the emergency
room and was seeking treatment for head trauma. The woman stated
she could not remember what she did from the time she parked
her vehicle near Catfisherman’s Paradise until the time
she returned home. Able to drive herself home after the incident,
the woman stated she did travel to the train tracks with the
intention of harming herself. Despite the presence of an open
skull fracture on the right side of her head and a minor laceration
to the back of her head, the woman was coherent and able follow
a line of questioning. The injuries the woman suffered are
consistent with the direction she was facing and with the direction
the train was traveling. Her condition at this time is unknown.
