On 24 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a citation to Garrett T. Elston, age 24, 3235 Warren Sharon Road, Vienna, OH, for traveling 76 mph in a 60 mph zone. Deputy Thorpe stopped Mr. Garrett on US 50 near Drag Strip Road in Belpre Township.

On 24 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a citation to Joseph A. Rexroad, age 39, 2977 Youba Ridge Road, Coolville, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Thorpe originally stopped Mr. Rexroad for not having a front license plate on US 50 near Federal Road in Belpre Township.

On 24 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested Michael P. Smith, age 26, 133 First Avenue, Paden City, WV, for operating a vehicle without a driver’s license. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Smith at the intersection of Third and Greene streets in Pioneer Township.

On 24 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested a summons for a sixteen year old Marietta resident to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by underage consumption of alcohol. A passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation, the teenager had an odor of alcohol and swayed back and forth when he exited the vehicle. Providing a breath sample, the teenager tested .191 BAC.

On 24 May 09 lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Lockhart responded to a 911 hang up call at 209 Second Street, Lower Salem. The victim, Amanda O’Brien, age 23, said she was lying bed when her husband Robert, age 26, kicked the bedroom door off its hinges, jumped on top of her and choked her. Mrs. O’Brien said her husband was extremely intoxicated and earlier in the evening dragged her around the inside of their home. During the incident Mrs. O’Brien said her husband pushed a hutch to the floor, ripped two doors from their hinges and broke a multitude of objects in the home by swinging a golf club. Unable to locate the suspect, Deputy Lockart requested a warrant for Mr. O’Brien for domestic violence.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Michael Scott Symons, age 61, 1649 SW First Way, Deerfield, FL, for driving under a suspended license and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Symons was arrested near milepost seven on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 09 at 12:25 am.

Michael Paul Smith, age 26, 133 First Avenue, Paden City, WV, for operating a vehicle with an expired driver’s license, a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested on Pike Street by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 09 at 3:00 pm.

Gary Aaron Demoss, age 35, 411 Southlawn Avenue, Coshocton, OH, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Demoss was arrested in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 May 09 at 5:00 pm.
