On 16 May 09 the Warren Fire Department transported Cassandra L. Morrow, age 24, 205 Sheldon Avenue, Marietta, to Marietta Memorial Hospital following a single vehicle crash at Good Fellows Park on State Route 550. Investigating the crash, Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck determined Ms. Morrow was traveling southbound on a park road when she lost control of her Chevy Cavalier and dropped off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle then slid into a large drainage area and rolled onto its roof. Ms. Morrow did not appear to be seriously injured and was transported as a precaution. The Chevy Cavalier sustained heavy damage.

On 16 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Cory L. Smith, age 21, 602 N. Fifth Street, Toronto, OH, for traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Smith on State Route 7 near Veto Road in Warren Township.

On 16 May 09 Scott Westerman, age 27, 694 Bender Road, Marietta, reported he was visiting his girlfriend’s home in Newport when his girlfriend’s ex-boyfriend entered the residence uninvited. Mr. Westerman stated Mitchell Williams, age 26, 2875 Leith Run Road, New Matamoras, shouted he would beat him up, grabbed him and threw him into a wall. Leaving a hole in the wall, Mr. Westerman freed himself and fled outside to his vehicle but was unable to escape because he dropped his keys and because Mr. Williams chased after him. Mr. Westerman sought refuge at a neighbor’s home and observed Mr. Williams pick up the keys before he departed the residence. Though Mr. Westerman’s girlfriend declined to pursue charges against Mr. Williams for entering the home, Mr. Williams wanted to press charges. As a result, Deputy Sheriff Travaglio requested warrants for Mr. Williams for theft and assault.

On 16 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a citation to Demetrius G. Haley, age 24, 2381 Delavan Drive, Columbus, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy Smeeks stopped Mr. Haley near milepost two on Interstate 77 in Marietta Township.

On 16 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Jeffery A. Cox, age 44, 269 N. Fifth Avenue, Middleport, OH, for operating a vehicle with fictitious plates. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Cox on State Route 7 near Braun Road in Belpre Township.

On 16 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued a citation to Kimberly J. Fetty, age 39, 1813 Hartline Road, Whipple, for failure to properly display license plates. Deputy Mankins stopped Ms. Fetty on State Route near State Route 339 in Belpre Township.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Larry Eugene Sparks, age 53, 315 Goose Run Road, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Sparks was arrested on Matthew Street in Marietta by Patrolman Linscott of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 1:13 am.

Thomas Ira Valentine, age 27, 114 Sunset Drive, Marietta, for felonious assault. Valentine was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 8:33 am.

Joseph Lafayette Hodges, age 63, 423 28th Street, Dunbar, WV, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Hodges was arrested on Third Street in Marietta by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 1:33 pm.

Stacy Nicole Duskey, age 23, 304 Blennerhassett Avenue Apt. 5, Belpre, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Duskey was arrested at Advance Auto Parts in Marietta by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 4:27 pm.

Eric Daniel Moore, age 30, 1908 Florence Street Apt. B, Belpre, for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Moore was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Stump of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 5:16 pm.

Emily Margaret Fox, age 27, 170 Second Street, Vincent, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Fox was arrested near milepost ten on State Route 550 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 09 at 10:15 pm.
