On 8 May 09 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued
a citation to Charles L. Augenstein Jr., age 34, 1560 State
Route 550, Bartlett, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Travaglio
originally stopped Mr. Augenstein driving outside the marked
lanes of travel on State Route 550 near Graham Road in Wesley
Township.
On 8 May 09 Kimberly Michael, age 33, 23560
State Route 339, Beverly, reported she attempted to leave her
residence while holding her two year old daughter to avoid
further problems caused by her live-in boyfriend Michael Brannan,
age 35, repeatedly accusing her of having an affair. While
inside the garage area, Ms. Michael said her boyfriend would
not allow her to leave the home with their daughter so she
hit him in the arm. At that point, Mr. Brannan said he reflexively
pushed Ms. Michael, causing her and the toddler to fall to
the ground. As a result of his investigation, Deputy Carr arrested
Mr. Brannan for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 8 May 09 Lt. Canavan and Deputy Sheriff
Anderson were en route to a fracas involving several subjects
at 700 Greenhill Road, Marietta, when they encountered a white
male who was holding his side and was covered in blood and
dirt. Identified as Anthony Martin, age 23, the individual
said he lives at the aforementioned address with his mother
Angela Harkins, age 46, and her boyfriend William Aronhalt,
age 56. As Lt. Canavan returned Mr. Martin to the scene, Mr.
Martin stated the melee began over a phone call during which
he refused to allow his estranged wife to take their two children
because she is currently living with a registered sex offender
in West Virginia. Mr. Martin said around 11:30 am his estranged
wife, her mother Jodie Kirl, age 39, Route 1 Box 196 Apt. B,
Parkersburg, and two friends, one of whom he identified as
Michael T. Powell, age 20, 1710 Park Street, Parkersburg, appeared
at the residence. At the scene, Mr. Aronhalt detailed to Deputy
Anderson that he answered a knock at the door and Ms. Kirl
pushed him aside and barged into the home screaming, “I’m
taking the kids!” Stepping outside the residence to keep
anyone else from entering, Mr. Aronhalt said he was attacked
with a shovel and a 2 x 2 piece of wood by Mr. Powell and the
other male. Inside the residence, Ms. Kirl pushed Mr. Martin
and Ms. Harkins onto a baby crib, causing it to collapse and
then began hitting the two along with her daughter. Escaping
and attempting to assist Mr. Aronhalt, Mr. Martin was also
attacked by the assailants before the two retreated inside
the home. By the time the skirmish finished Mr. Martin was
also hit in the ribs with a brick and the two children vanished.
On 10 May Deputy Anderson gathered enough information to request
warrants for Ms. Kirl and Mr. Powell for aggravated burglary
and felonious assault. When he obtains further information
on Mr. Martin’s estranged wife and the other male subject,
Deputy Anderson will file charges on them as well.
