On 27 Apr 09 Julie Snider, age 32, 1771 Hickman
Road, Waterford, reported she was about to depart her residence
to avoid a confrontation while discussing their marriage with
her husband when her husband grabbed her forearm. Ms. Snider
said she was not injured and commented that after she entered
her vehicle her husband tore the driver’s side mirror
of the vehicle. Deputy Sheriff Reynolds determined the incident
did not meet the criteria for a charge of domestic violence.
The criminal damaging portion of this case remains open pending
consultation with the law director, however due to the fact
that the vehicle is marital property charges in regard to the
broken mirror are unlikely.
On 27 Apr 09 Maria J. Sellers, age 41, 330
James Road, Fleming, reported she was involved in a heated
disagreement with her estranged husband when he dropped their
children off at her home for visitation. Questioning both parties,
Deputy Sheriff Smeeks concluded no threats were made and no
act of domestic violence occurred.
On 27 Apr 09 a family member reported Alice
Sargent, age 73, 430 Way Road, Belpre, ran away from her home
where she was in the care of a home healthcare worker. Among
the units dispatched to the scene were Deputy Sheriff McLeish
and his tracking bloodhound. In the direction the bloodhound
tracked Ms. Way, the Belpre Fire Department located Ms. Way
on Braun Road approximately a half mile from her home. When
she was located Ms. Way was uninjured and appeared lucid despite
her Alzheimer’s disease.
On 27 Apr 09 the principal of the Washington
County Career Center, 21740 State Route 676, Marietta, reported
a student at the school who was hired to work in the cafeteria’s
lunch line was stealing money. A cafeteria worker stated the
student first turned in $75-80 per day but months later turned
in $30-40. She also said after the student was terminated the
cash received returned to its previous amounts. This case remains
under investigation (594).
On 27 Apr 09 Deputy Sheriff Reeder arrested
Billy Joe Guess, age 21, 22525 Brimstone Road, Coolville, for
possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of marijuana.
Stopped for not having a front license plate on his vehicle,
Mr. Guess had an odor of marijuana emanating from his vehicle.
A pat down for weapons on Mr. Guess revealed an object in his
pocket that Mr. Guess admitted was a marijuana pipe. Mr. Guess
further confessed to possessing a small bag of marijuana.
On 27 Apr 09 Andrew R. Johnston, age 30, 32
Warren Heights Drive, Marietta, reported fishing equipment
was stolen from the storage box in the bed of his truck sometime
between 21 and 22 Apr 09. Mr. Johnson estimates the total value
of the stolen equipment at over $2,000. This case remains under
investigation (805).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Justin Michael Trent, age 18, 442 Muskingum Drive, Marietta,
for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor.
Trent was arrested in Marietta by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 27 Apr 09 at 1:15 am.
Billy Joe Guess, age 21, 22525 Brimstone Road, Coolville,
for possession of drugs and for possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Guess was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy
Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 27 Apr 09 at 8:37 am.
Karen Kay Jones, age 41, 305 Van Bergen Avenue,
Marietta, for a felony charge of nonsupport of dependants and
for a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms of his probation.
Jones turned herself in to Deputy Sheriff Reeder and was processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Apr 09 at 10:30 am.
Terrel Coy Davis, age 24, 713 Mary Street, Belpre, for domestic
violence, a felony. Davis was picked up at the Noble Correctional
Institution by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 27 Apr 09 at 4:22 pm.
Michael Lee Winland, age 23, 288 Patten Mills Road, Cutler,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines and for driving under a suspended license, both misdemeanors.
Winland was arrested near milepost two on State Route 7 by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 27 Apr 09 at 9:35 pm.
