On 25 Apr 09 Deputy Sheriffs Mankins and Thorpe
responded to a domestic violence report at 11700 Waterford
Road, Waterford. At the scene, one of the victims, Mary Potts,
age 26, said she and her husband Mitchell, age 32, had been
drinking for five hours when an argument erupted in the garage.
While Mr. Potts had a hold of his wife’s wrists, his
mother Jessica Bowman, age 51, same address, entered the garage
and attempted to intervene. Mr. Potts released his wife and
shoved his mother to the floor, which resulted in her suffering
a broken hip. Refocusing his rage on his wife, Mr. Potts grabbed
Mrs. Potts by the hair and legs and dragged her across the
floor. As a result of the investigation, Deputy Thorpe arrested
Mr. Potts for domestic violence and transported him to the
Washington County Jail.
On 25 Apr 09 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued
a citation to Stephen L. Null, age 57, 2321 Washington Boulevard,
Belpre, for operating a vehicle with license plates that expired
in February 2009. Deputy Thorpe stopped Mr. Hull on Washington
Boulevard near Tuttle Avenue in Belpre Township.
On 25 Apr 09 Sgt. Underwood issued a minor
misdemeanor citation to Jason W. Riggins, age 25, 710 Belrock
Avenue, Belpre, for possession of marijuana. Noticing two subjects
loitering on the property of the Belpre Masonic Lodge at 1
am, Sgt. Underwood stopped to investigate. Mr. Riggins darted
behind a tree where Sgt. Underwood later found a bag of marijuana
lying on the ground. When questioned about the marijuana, Mr.
Riggins admitted it belonged to him and said he threw it to
the ground when he saw Sgt. Underwood pull in the driveway.
On 25 Apr 09 Erin C. Dutton, age 23, 109 Lockhart
Street, Belpre, reported sometime during the past week a Yamaha
Raptor ATV, valued at approximately $8,500, was stolen from
her previous residence at 341 Tadpole Run Road, Belpre. This
case remains under investigation (707).
On 25 Apr 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Jason L. Landes, age 28, 26792 Shanks Road, Coolville,
for failing to reinstate his operator’s license. Deputy
Smeeks stopped Mr. Landes on State Route 7 near State Route
124 in Belpre Township.
On 25 Apr 09 the Salem Township emergency
squad transported Daniel Camp, age 38, 969 Gerken Road, Whipple,
to Marietta Memorial Hospital following an ATV rollover. Preliminary
information indicates Mr. Camp suffered a shoulder injury when
he struck a log with his ATV while riding on property located
in the vicinity of 6550 Highland Ridge Road, Lower Salem (712).

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mitchell Jay Potts, age 32, 11700 Waterford
Road, Waterford, for two felony
counts of domestic violence.
Potts was
arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Thorpe and processed
into the Washington County
Jail
on 25
Apr 09 at 2:17 am.
Roman Gonzalez Perez, age 22, 836 Pike Street Apt. 5, Marietta,
for sexual battery, a felony. Gonzalez was arrested at Lafayette
Plaza by Patrolman Hilverding of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Apr 09
at 8:23 am.
Clay Floyd Springer Jr., age 32, 6860 State Route 60, Lowell,
for failure to appear, a misdemeanor. Springer was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 25 Apr 09 at 2:35 pm.
James David Simmons, age 33, Route 1 Box 151, Leroy, WV, for
driving under a suspended license and for following another
vehicle too closely, both misdemeanors. Simmons was arrested
near milepost sixteen on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25
Apr 09 at 6:20 pm.
Gary Lee McFadden II, age 38, 210 Fifth Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of a protection order, a misdemeanor.
McFadden was arrested at his residence by Patrolman McCracken
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 25 Apr 09 at 11:55 pm.
