On 5 Apr 09 Sgt. Eddy and Deputy Sheriff Reynolds
investigated a possible domestic disturbance involving a forty-one
year old Marietta man and his sixteen year old son. Arguing
over the fact that his son left the Roller Rink without permission
to go to the Skate Park, the father grabbed his son by the
shirt collar and pushed the juvenile in the direction of his
bedroom. The Deputies determined no threat or act of domestic
violence occurred.
On 5 Apr 09 a forty-one year old Marietta
resident reported she was speaking on the phone with an acquaintance
when another acquaintance picked up the phone on the other
end and threatened her. This case remains under investigation
(805).
On 5 Apr 09 Sgt. Eddy and Deputy Sheriff Reynolds
responded to the scene of an assault at 2288 Tick Ridge Road,
Vincent. The Deputies determined the brawl began over a property
dispute involving the construction and subsequent disassembly
of a garage on property rented by Bradley N. Smith at 2288
Tick Ridge Road, Vincent. The owner of the property, Brion
K. Dye, age 39, 953 Windy Ridge Road, Vincent, arrived at the
rental party along with his father in law Anthony W. Atkinson,
age 53, 843 Windy Ridge Road, Vincent, and confronted a group
of individuals disassembling the garage erected by Mr. Smith.
Tempers flared immediately, with Mr. Atkinson knocking a tool
out of the hand of Mike Ash, age 40, 10534 Pond Creek Road,
Rockport, WV. After punching Mr. Ash in the jaw Mr. Atkinson
turned and struck Kyle Carson, age 19, and Steven L. Carson,
age 51, both of 11120 Pond Creek Road, Rockport, WV. Mr. Dye
then struck Steve Carson, pulled him the ground and held him
there while Mr. Atkinson struck him with an unknown object.
While Steve and Kyle Carson received treatment for their injuries
at Camden Clark Hospital, Deputy Reynolds arrested Mr. Dye
for assault and Mr. Atkinson for assault and for two counts
of felonious assault.
On 5 Apr 09 a sixteen year old Charleston
resident crashed his motorcycle after unsuccessfully landing
a jump from a ramp at the Wildwood Raceway at 2460 Wildwood
Lake Road, Little Hocking. Though the teenager did not appear
to have a broken bone, EMTs at the scene said the juvenile
was experiencing pain and swelling in his left knee. The Little
Hocking Fire Department transported the teenager to Marietta
Memorial Hospital for treatment (608).
On 5 Apr 09 an employee of Marietta Township
reported an unknown suspect(s) entered the community building
at 260 Sandhill Road, Marietta and discharged fire extinguishers
throughout several rooms. In addition, the complainant said
the suspect(s) broke several windows of interior doors and
stole an unknown number of cases of soft drinks. This case
remains under investigation (1001).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Shane Franklin Carpenter, age 37, 1308 Williamson
Avenue, New Matamoras, for OVI and for possession of drugs,
both misdemeanors. Carpenter was arrested in New Matamoras
by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 09 at 1:34
am.
Anthony Wayne Atkinson Sr., age 53, 843 Windy
Ridge Road, Vincent, for three misdemeanor counts of assault.
Atkinson was arrested on Tick Ridge Road by Deputy Sheriff
Reynolds and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5
Apr 09 at 10:30 pm.
Brion Keith Dye, age 38, 953 Windy Ridge Road,
Vincent, for assault, a misdemeanor. Dye was arrested on Tick
Ridge Road by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 5 Apr 09 at 10:46 pm.
