On 26 Mar 09 Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio arrested
Teresa E. Alderman, age 37, 404 Jefferson Square, Marietta,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Stopped for traveling northbound in the southbound lane of
State Route 7 near Browns Road, Ms. Alderman consented to a
search of her vehicle. During the subsequent search Deputy
Travaglio discovered a marijuana pipe and a small bag of marijuana
in a purse Ms. Alderman said belonged to her. Ms. Alderman
admitted the contraband was hers and said she used the items
to smoke marijuana two hours earlier.
On 26 Mar 09 two female students at the Washington
County Career Center reported a male student riding the school
bus along with them was in possession of a switchblade-type
knife and made a comment about stabbing one of them. One of
the females identified the student with the knife as Larry
G. Newbrough III, age 18, 4700 Dalzell Road, Whipple, and said
she slapped Newbrough after he made a statement about her having
an STD. At that point, Mr. Newbrough removed the knife from
his pocket, stated, “I should stab you” and handed
the knife to another student. Questioned by Deputy Sheriff
Reynolds, Mr. Newbrough confirmed the witness’ statements
and said at no time did he show the blade portion of the knife.
As a result of the incident, Deputy Reynolds arrested Mr. Newbrough
for menacing and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 26 Mar 09 a Decatur Township trustee reported
a local resident discovered a number of bags of trash under
a bridge on Robert Kelly Road. Identifying the owner of the
refuse by items in the trash, Deputy Sheriff Holbert spoke
to the suspects. The suspects said they were hauling trailer
loads full of garbage and any illegal dumping was unintentional.
The suspects retrieved their trash and disposed of it in an
appropriate manner.
On 26 Mar 09 a caregiver for Michael Grimes,
age 26, 221 ½ Greene Street Apt. C, Marietta, reported
sometime between 1 Sep 08 and 26 Mar 08 a mattress, box springs,
entertainment center and a couch were stolen from Mr. Grimes’ storage
unit at Triple H Storage on State Route 60 in Marietta. This
case remains under investigation (945).
On 26 Mar 09 an employee of the Wrangler Tavern,
6675 State Route 821, Whipple, reported a patron at the bar
was speaking on a pay phone when he suddenly started slamming
the phone receiver against the wall. Asked repeatedly to depart
the premises, Chad E. Heslop, age 30, 80 Railroad Street, Whipple,
refused to leave the bar and had the audacity to demand the
bartender phone the bar owner. Speaking to the bar owner over
the phone, Mr. Heslop again refused to leave at the bar owner’s
request. Escorted off the property by Deputy Sheriff Spencer,
Mr. Heslop was arrested for criminal trespassing and disorderly
conduct by intoxication. At the Washington County Jail Mr.
Heslop tested .174 BAC.

on State Route 7 near Browns Road by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 09
at 2:55 am.
Larry Gale Newbrough III, age 18, 4700 Dalzell
Road, Whipple, for menacing, a misdemeanor. Newbrough was arrested
at the Washington County Career Center by Deputy Sheriff Reynolds
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 09
at 2:42 pm.
Allan Russell Ross, age 49, 4683 State Route
60, McConnelsville, for OVI, driving under a suspended license
and for driving left of center, all misdemeanors. Ross was
arrested on State Route 339 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 09
at 11:00 pm.
Chad Eric Heslop, age 30, 80 Railroad Street,
Whipple, for disorderly conduct by intoxication and criminal
trespassing, both misdemeanors. Heslop was arrested at the
Wrangler Tavern by Deputy Sheriff Spencer and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 26 Mar 09 at 11:30 pm
