On 21 Mar 09 Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio arrested
Jason J. Peplin, age 31, 803 Fifth Street Apt. C, Marietta,
for .08 breath OVI. Encountering Mr. Peplin’s vehicle
stopped on the shoulder of State Route 26, Deputy Travaglio
noticed an odor of alcohol. Though Mr. Peplin initially stated
he drank three beers, he later confessed that he had too much
to drink and was over the legal limit. Mr. Peplin’s assumption
was confirmed with his poor performance on field sobriety tests
and by his inability to remain standing without being supported.
When transported to the Washington County Jail Mr. Peplin tested
.126 BAC.
On 21 Mar 09 a thirty-six year old Marietta
resident reported she received a threatening letter in the
mail that stated: “Are you deaf. Dead dogs don’t
bark.” This case remains under investigation (500, 594).
On 21 Mar 09 Sgt. Norman and Deputy Sheriffs
Hornbeck and Reeder were dispatched to a domestic disputed
at 156 Turkey Hollow Road, Cutler. Tina Corp, age 40, informed
the Deputies her husband Benjamin, age 49, drank heavily throughout
the day (the 911 call was placed at 11:35 pm) and became verbally
abusive toward her seventeen year old son. Upset that his stepson
is no good and a freeloader, Mr. Corp threatened to kill the
juvenile, pushed his wife to the floor and charged toward the
teenager’s room. As Mr. Corp punched holes in the teenager’s
closed bedroom door with his fist, the juvenile fled out the
window to a nearby relative’s residence. Determining
both victims feared for their safety during the incident, Deputy
Hornbeck arrested Mr. Corp for two counts of domestic violence
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
William Ray Adams, age 33, 6317 State Route 124, Reedsville,

hearing on unpaid fines and for contempt for failing to pay
fines, all misdemeanors. Adams was picked up at the Athens
