On 5 Mar 09 a seventeen year old Washington
County Career Center student nearly cut off several of his
fingers when his hand became stuck between a piece of wood
and the blade of a log splitter. Suffering damage to his metacarpal
ligaments, the Waterford resident will be undergoing surgery
to repair the damage (945).
On 5 Mar 09 Helen Burton, age 88, 2610 Indian
Run Road, Marietta, reported she believes a family member stole
her Chase Bank debit card and used it at various locations
in this area to withdraw $700 from her account. This case remains
under investigation (296).
On 5 Mar 09 Bradley A. Morris, age 52, 2350
Waterford Road, Marietta, reported while he was at work that
day an unknown suspect pried open a door to his home, ransacked
several rooms and stole items. Stolen property includes three
shotguns, two rifles, $650 worth of collectible coins, a DVD
player and a nine inch flat panel television. This case remains
under investigation (1106).
On 5 Mar 09 Rick Beebe, age 56, 21197 State
Route 676, Marietta, reported he is caring for his hospitalized
brother’s residence at 435 Muskingum River Road, Marietta,
and today he noticed the back door of the residence standing
ajar. Mr. Beebe is unsure of the exact items stolen but did
say a bottle of medication was missing from a drawer. This
case remains under investigation (945).
On 5 Mar 09 Kristy Cline, age 31, 1308 Williamson
Avenue Apt. 6E, New Matamoras, reported when she returned home
on 4 Mar after being away overnight she found her sliding glass
door was forced open. Ms. Cline took stock of her property
and said a leather jacket, shoes, miscellaneous clothes, Playstation
games, jewelry and various other items were stolen. This case
remains under investigation (610).
On 5 Mar 09 John Hudkins, age 62, 3909 Braun
Road, Belpre, reported he lighted a fire an hour earlier and
was watching television around midnight when he noticed a large
amount of smoke emanating from the wall. The Little Hocking
and Dunham fire departments were dispatched to the scene and
extinguished the chimney fire before it could cause substantial
damage. The estimated loss due to the fire is approximately
$2,000 (707, 1104).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Diego Rivera Gomez, age 26, 911 Washington
Street, Marietta, for OVI, for operating a vehicle without
a license, failure to signal and for not wearing a seat belt,
all misdemeanors. Gomez was arrested on Franklin Street in
Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 5 Mar 09 at 3:34 am.
Joseph Lee Slider, age 18, Front Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Slider
was picked up at SEPTA by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Mar 09 at 1:20
pm.
Jeremy David Wright, age 26, 312 Spring Street, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Wright
was picked up at SEPTA by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Mar 09 at 1:20
pm.
Jacqueline Lynn Queen, age 42, 2210 Nash Street Apt. 3, Parkersburg,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Queen was arrested at 417 Goss Fork Road
by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 5 Mar 09 at 2:06 pm.
Shane Britton Arnold, age 37, 609 Fourth Street, New Matamoras,
for a felony charge of domestic violence and for misdemeanor
charges of possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and disorderly conduct by intoxication. Arnold was arrested
at his residence by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
5 Mar 09 at 11:00 pm.
