On 3 Mar 09 Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck arrested
Justin A. Simpson, age 20, 6644 Straight Fort Lakes, Canal
Winchester, OH, for underage consumption of alcohol. A passenger
in a vehicle stopped by the Marietta Police Department on Third
Street, Mr. Simpson had an odor of alcohol and admitted drinking
alcohol at the Four Seasons that evening.
On 3 Mar 09 a neighbor reported she was starting
her car when her neighbor Angela Bookman, age 30, 90 Stanley
Street, Newport, ran into her yard, screaming for her to call
911 because she was bleeding. Mrs. Bookman asked the neighbor
to accompany her back to her home, saying she was frightened
of her husband Timothy, age 28. Interviewed by Deputy Sheriff
Simmons, Mrs. Bookman said she temporarily lost consciousness
after her husband pushed her and she struck her head on either
the floor or on something in the kitchen of their residence.
When she awoke, Mrs. Bookman stated she was bleeding on the
right side of her head and was unable to phone for help because
her husband wouldn’t allow her to use the phone. Under
questioning, Mr. Bookman commented that the couple argued over
him staying up late and watching videos on Youtube but claimed
that his wife went berserk knocked over several items in the
home. It was during that tirade that Mr. Bookman claimed his
wife slipped and struck her head on a bookshelf. Determining
the blood evidence supported the testimony of Mrs. Bookman,
Deputy Simmons arrested Mr. Bookman for domestic violence and
transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 3 Mar 09 Treva K. Caltrider, age 42, 1745
Handschumaker Road, Marietta, reported she departed her residence
at 8 am and when she returned at 2:30 pm she noticed that an
unknown suspect(s) broke into her home through the main door
in her garage. Taking inventory of her family’s belongings,
Mrs. Caltrider said an old laptop computer, $200 in cash, a
portable DVD player, a 410 shotgun and several articles of
jewelry are missing. This case remains under investigation
(1090, 1184).
On 3 Mar 09 the Barlow squad transported a
forty-five year old Vincent resident to St. Joseph’s
Hospital after he suffered broken ribs, a broken shoulder blade
and a broken arm in a farming accident. The victim was alone,
operating a manure spreader when his clothing became caught
in the machine. Freeing himself, the victim ran to a relative’s
home for assistance (296).

were processed into the Washington County Jail:

a misdemeanor. Simpson was arrested at the intersection of
Third and Greene streets by Deputy Sheriff Hornbeck and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar 09 at 2:45 am.
Stephanie Lorraine Wright, age 24, 125 Millers Lane Apt. C4,
Marietta, for a felony charge of possession of drugs and for
a misdemeanor charge of OVI. Wright was arrested on Greene
Street by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar 09 at
3:45 am.
Amanda Jo Sampe, age 28, 402 Jefferson Square,
Marietta, for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor.
Sampe was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman
Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar 09 at 9:32 am.
Timothy John Bookman, age 28, 90 Stanley Street, Newport,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Bookman was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar 09 at 9:59 am.
Gideon Guy Powell, age 19, 116 Elmwood Avenue, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Powell
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 3 Mar 09 at
11:39 am.
