On 25 Feb 09 a caller reported her thirty-five year old daughter attempted suicide by ingesting an overdose of prescription medication. Responding to the victim’s Marietta apartment, Deputy Sheriff Mankins found the victim talking conscious and about to be transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital. No foul play is suspected in the incident.

On 25 Feb 09 Frannie Carpenter, age 30, 1002 N. Echo Street, Malta, reported she drove to the residence her brother shares with Casee Hoover, age 28, 3860 State Route 676, Stockport, to receive money her brother owes her when Ms. Hoover became irate and attempted to punch her through her open window. As Ms. Carpenter exited her vehicle to continue the fight, Ms. Hoover fled inside the residence. Ms. Carpenter re-entered her vehicle and Ms. Hoover again attempted to strike her through the window. Citing each party’s involvement, Deputy Sheriff Eddy requested summonses for Ms. Hoover and Ms. Carpenter for disorderly conduct by fighting.

On 25 Feb 09 William Dana, age 83, 780 Johnson Road, Marietta, reported when he returned home after running errands for two hours he noticed his basement door was broken and standing open. Taking inventory of his belongings, Mr. Dana determined two rifles, a shotgun, two cameras and his checkbook were stolen. This case remains under investigation (945).

On 25 Feb 09 Deputy Sheriff Mankins responded to the scene of death of a six month old boy in Devola. Though the death does not appear suspicious, this case remains under investigation.

On 25 Feb 09 Deputy Sheriff Eddy was dispatched to the scene of a vehicle fire at 1180 Braun Road, Belpre. The vehicle’s owner, Janice Meredith, age 42, said she started her Chrysler minivan and five minutes later smoke was emanating from under the hood and the paint was bubbling. Extinguished by the Little Hocking Fire Department, the blaze caused substantial damage to the vehicle and minor damage to the siding of Mrs. Meredith’s home.

Mark A. Bennett, age 19, 29905 State Route 7, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $475.

Charles R. Conkle, age 26, 1126 46th Street Apt. 7, Vienna, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $338.

Johnathan E. Porter, age 30, 4152 N. Early Ridge Road, McConnelsville, for failing to appear for pretrial on 23 Jan 09.

Luke D. Stout, age 20, 92 Hickory Flat Road, Buckhannon, WV, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $259.

Jamie C. Waters, age 36, 14002 State Route 339, Watertown, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines in the sum of $219.

Michelle Burton, age 20, 42921 Harrah Street, Lafferty, OH, for failing to appear for pretrial on 9 Feb 09.

Matthew J. Cornell, age 25, Marietta, for failing to appear for pretrial on 20 Feb 09.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Darryal Deshun Williams, age 26, 334 Firestone Boulevard, Akron, for OVI and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Williams was arrested near milepost five on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Feb 09 at 12:25 am.

Russell Leon O’Dell Jr., age 42, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt. 5C, New Matamoras, for operating a vehicle without a license, a misdemeanor. O’Dell was arrested on State Route 7 in Reno by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Feb 09 at 3:20 pm.

Richard Eugene Smith, age 41, 204 Brittigan Circle, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested in Marietta Municipal Court by Patrolman Caldwell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25 Feb 09 at 4:00 pm.
