On 20 Feb 09 a patron at the Fox Den bar reported
witnessing a domestic dispute involving Gary E. Luke, age 38,
and his wife Twila, age 30. Located at their residence at 225
Seventh Street, Marietta, Mr. Luke was uncooperative and became
defensive when Deputy Sheriffs Holbert and Lockhart attempted
to interview him about the incident. Mr. Luke physically resisted
being escorted out of the home, leading to a brief struggle
and forcing Deputy Lockhart to deploy his Taser to gain Mr.
Luke’s compliance. Interviewed alone, Mrs. Luke said
she is extremely afraid of her husband and stated he threw
her against a wall at the bar, dragged her outside and attempted
to strike her in the face. For his actions Mr. Luke was arrested
for domestic violence, resisting arrest and obstructing official
business and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 20 Feb 09 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio arrested
Jeffrey B. Kiggans, age 20, 34063 Brownsville County Line Road,
New Matamoras, for possession of drugs, possession of drug
paraphernalia, for having an inoperable headlight and for not
wearing a seat belt. Conducting the traffic stop on State Route
7 in New Matamoras, Deputy Travaglio noticed Mr. Kiggans appeared
nervous. A pat down of Mr. Kiggans for weapons yielded a marijuana
pipe Mr. Kiggans had in his pocket. A further search of Kiggans
incident to arrest, Deputy Travaglio also located a bag of
marijuana in Kiggans’ pants pocket.
SUSPECTS ARRESTED FOR FELONIOUS ASSAULT
At 12:43 am on 19 Feb 09 the Marietta Police Department received
a complaint concerning a fight at 211A Holly Street, Marietta.
An investigation by the Marietta Police Department revealed
William C. “Billy” Anderson, age 25, 7900 Germantown
Road, Lower Salem, and his brother John E. Anderson, age 27,
760 Greene Street, Marietta, attacked and beat Adam Lee Cook,
211 A Holly Street, Marietta, because he allegedly abused a
relative of the Andersons. Cook was treated at the scene by
members of the Marietta Fire Department.
Using some type of long guns to physically assault Cook, the
Andersons then left the scene and absconded to a remote area
in the vicinity of County Nine Road. Billy Anderson later surrendered
to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and confessed
to his participation in the assault. This afternoon, the Marietta
Police Department received information that John Anderson abandoned
a truck on a well road. Utilizing the Sheriff’s Office
helicopter, the truck was located hidden in a remote area near
14460 County Road Nine in New Matamoras. John Anderson was
found hiding in a mobile home near by and was arrested by members
of the Marietta Police Department and the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office. John Anderson also confessed to his
participation in the assault.
John Anderson was charged with felonious assault and using
a weapon while under disability. William Anderson was charged
with concealing evidence and felonious assault utilizing a
deadly weapon. Both are being held in the Washington County
Jail in lieu of bond.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Joseph Allen Bailey, age 45, 211 B Holly Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Bailey was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 09
at 1:25 pm.
Thomas Paul Daugherty, age 29, 1002 Washington Boulevard,
Belpre, for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Daugherty
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Linscott and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 09 at 2:15
pm.
Rodney Allen Nichols, age 40, 607 Center Street, Beverly,
for operating a vehicle without a license, a misdemeanor. Nichols
was arrested in Beverly by Patrolman Hunter of the Beverly
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Feb 09 at 2:15 pm.
John Eugene Anderson, age 28, 760 Greene Street, Marietta,
for having a weapon while under disability and for assault,
both felonies. Anderson was arrested in New Matamoras by Deputy
Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 20 Feb 09 at 5:15 pm.
Jeffrey Bryan Kiggans, age 20, 34063 Brownsville County Line
Road, New Matamoras, for possession of drugs, possession of
drug paraphernalia, for having an inoperable headlight and
for not wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Kiggans was
arrested in New Matamoras by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Feb 09 at 8:15
pm.
