On 25 and on 26 Jan 09 Deputies requested
summonses for a sixteen year old Marietta resident to appear
in Juvenile Court for being unruly. In both instances the teenager’s
mother reported her son refuses to obey house rules and leaves
the residence without permission (610, 790).
On 25 Jan 09 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe responded
to the scene of death of a ninety-six year old Marietta resident.
The woman’s death appears to be due to natural causes;
no foul play is suspected.
On 25 Jan 09 Derek Wright, age 31, 51170State
Route 7, New Matamoras, reported sometime during the past week
an unknown suspect(s) stole the in-dash CD players from two
unlocked vehicles at his residence. This case remains under
investigation (610).
On 25 Jan 09 Shirley N. Way, age 32, 1150
Fifteenmile Creek Road, Marietta, was transported to Selby
Hospital after suffering minor burns. Attempting to relight
a pilot light, Ms. Way singed her eyebrows and incurred burns
to her hand (610).
TWO ARRESTED DURING BAR FIGHT INVOLVING A
WEAPON
On 25 Jan 09 at 0200, Deputy Kelly Travaglio responded to
an altercation at the Lawnsdale Bar, 2355 Briggs Hill Road,
Belpre, during which a witness reported seeing a weapon. Upon
arriving at the scene Deputy Travaglio was informed that two
of the suspects involved in the fight were hiding in a nearby
wooded area. Deputy Travaglio first located Dallas W. Roberts,
age 26, 455 Joe Skinner Road, Belpre, and subdued him shortly
after he resisted arrest. Casey A. Snyder, age 24, 732 Braun
Road, Belpre was arrested a short time later without resistance.
Further interviews revealed Snyder struck Jack E. Fox, age
40, 26101 Rock Street, Coolville, with a closed fist in the
face and knocked him unconscious. James M. Smith, age 29, 66256
Second Avenue, Reedsville, OH attempted to assist Fox and was
also struck in the face by Snyder. After a brief struggle between
Snyder and Smith, Snyder pointed a loaded .38 caliber revolver
at Smith’s head and stated, “Do you want to fight
now?” Chad Smeeks, age 28, 41645 Coolville Road, Reedsville,
attempted to intervene but hesitated when Snyder pointed the
weapon in his face. Dallas Roberts, during this alteration,
struck Jeff A. Queen, age 34, 2220 State Route 56, Athens,
in the face with a closed fist.
As a result of the incident Snyder was arrested for a fifth
degree felony charge of possessing a firearm in a liquor establishment
and three misdemeanor counts of aggravated menacing. Dallas
Roberts was charged with obstruction of justice and assault
and released on bond. Snyder remains incarcerated in the Washington
County Jail in lieu of a $3,000 bond. The investigation is
continuing and additional charges are expected to be filed.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Zachariah Jacob Voithofer, age 21, 509 Putnam Street, Marietta,
for OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors.
Voithofer was arrested on Fourth Street by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25
Jan 09 at 3:16 am.
Dallas Warren Roberts, age 26, 455 Joe Skinner Road, Belpre,
for assault and for obstructing official business, both misdemeanors.
Roberts was arrested at the Lawnsdale bar by Deputy Sheriff
K. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 25 Jan 09 at 3:28 am.
Casey Alexander Snyder, age 24, 732 Braun Road, Belpre, for
a felony charge of possessing a firearm in a liquor establishment
and for misdemeanor charges of aggravated menacing, handling
a weapon while intoxicated and assault. Snyder was arrested
at the Lawnsdale bar by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 25 Jan 09 at 4:02 am.
Cass Daniel Mayle, age 24, 1680 Coal Street, Chesterhill,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Mayle was arrested on
Caywood Road by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25
Jan 09 at 4:17 am.
Raymond Wayne Delancey, age 22, 713 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre,
for failure to reinstate his operators license, a misdemeanor.
Delancey was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 25
Jan 09 at 6:47 pm.
