On 23 Jan 09 Deputy Sheriff Spencer requested
a summons for Becky L. Sergent, age 18, 1320 Caywood Road,
Marietta, for violating the terms of a protection order. Lauren
A. Rummer, age 19, 135 Vanfossen Road, Lowell, reported she
was talking on the phone with her cousin on 22 Jan when her
cousin received a call from Ms. Sergent on call waiting. To
Ms. Rummer’s cousin, Ms. Sergent stated “tell your
cousin when I get off house arrest I’m gonna beat your
[butt] and then yours.” Ms. Rummer said she has a protection
order against Ms. Sergent as a result of previous incidents
and that the protection order for forbids such contact.
On 23 Jan 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a minor misdemeanor citation to Kenneth W. Sherrell Jr., age
22, 2405 Cleveland Avenue, Steubenville, OH, for possession
of marijuana. Sherrell was a passenger in a vehicle stopped
for having inoperable taillights on State Route 7 in Little
Hocking when five small, one gram bags of marijuana were found
in his shoes.
On 23 Jan 09 a twenty-two year old Cutler
resident attempted suicide by ingesting an overdose of Tylenol.
Transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital by the Wesley Township
Fire Department, the man did not ingest enough acetaminophen
to have his stomach pumped (790).
On 23 Jan 09 Erica J. Counts, age 31, 19 Wood
Drive, Little Hocking, reported her live-in boyfriend Joseph
P. Greenwalt, age 31, started cursing at her at 6:30 am because
she spent time at a friend’s home the previous evening.
Ms. Counts said she was lying in bed when Mr. Greenwalt flicked
her in the right eye. Confronting Mr. Greenwalt about his behavior,
Ms. Counts said her boyfriend grabbed her forcefully by the
arm. Lt. Wilson determined Ms. Counts feared for her safety
during the incident and thereafter requested a warrant for
Mr. Greenwalt for domestic violence.
On 23 Jan 09 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks requested
a summons for a seventeen year old Warren, OH resident to appear
in Juvenile Court on charges of delinquency by possession of
drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stopping the teenager
for speeding on State Route 7 in Belpre, Deputy Smeeks’ canine
indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle. A subsequent
search of the vehicle yielded a pill bottle containing marijuana,
a partially smoke marijuana joint and a marijuana pipe.

Yvonne L. Colyer, age 40, 716 Franklin Avenue
Apt. 4, Belpre, for an assault committed in Marietta on 4 Jan
09.
Brent M. Newlen, age 25, 914 McGill Road, Vincent, for an
act of criminal damaging on 30 Oct 08.
Amanda M. Poling, age 27, 50 Mitchells Court, Washington,
WV, for failing to appear to serve three days in jail on 14
Jan 09.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Johnathan McKenzey Tucker, age 19, 19 Parkersburg
Avenue, Belpre, for being a military deserter. Tucker turned
himself in to Patrolman Williams at the Belpre City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
23 Jan 09 at 12:24 am.
Joshua Don Martin, age 28, 935 ½ Greene
Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Martin was arrested at his residence by Probation
Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 23 Jan 09 at 1:15 pm.
John Cochise Swiger Jr., age 21, 14000 Lincoln Street SE Apt.
C, Minerva, OH, for driving under a suspended license and for
not wearing a seat belt, both misdemeanors. Swiger was arrested
near milepost three on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23
Jan 09 at 4:10 pm.
Charles Clinton Carpenter, age 24, 403 Wirt Street, Belpre,
for OVI, driving under a suspended license, failure to control
and for violating the terms of his probation, all misdemeanors.
Carpenter was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman Clevenger of
the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 23 Jan 09 at 10:40 pm.
