CONTROLLED BUY NETS 650 METHADONE PILLS

During a joint operation conducted by the Parkersburg Narcotics Task Force (PNTF) and the Washington County Major Crimes Task Force (MCTF), Agents seized 650 10 mg methadone pills during an undercover operation. Arrested was Ola V. Nichols Jr., age 58, 361 Anderson Road, Davisville, WV. Utilizing a confidential informant, Agents purchased the methadone from Nichols for $4,120 in a transaction that took place on Farson Street in Belpre. Shortly after the transaction marked units from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop, arrested Nichols and recovered the $4,120 in his possession.

Subsequent to the arrest of Nichols, PNTF officers executed a search warrant at Nichols’ residence and seized a number of items, including six plastic bags of marijuana packaged for sale. Agents will also seek the forfeiture of a 2001 Ford Winstar driven by Nichols to facilitate the distribution. Nichols remains incarcerated in the Washington County Jail in lieu of $35,000 bond

Methadone is being used to supply the habits of opiate addicts in the Mid-Ohio Valley and has been linked to overdose fatalities in the past several years. The ten milligram pills recovered in this case are some of the most powerful methadone pills prescribed.
