On 27 Dec 08 James L. Perkins Jr., age 39,
2207 Murray Street Apt. B, Belpre, reported three days ago
he allowed Brenda Miller, age 40, 1001 Colonial Drive Apt.
B4, Marietta, to borrow his 2003 Pontiac to drive to the Northern
Ohio area to visit her son. Mr. Perkins stated Ms. Miller was
to return on 25 Dec but he was unable to contact her after
numerous attempts. Later that morning Deputy Sheriff Day requested
a warrant for Ms. Miller for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.
At 5 pm the Mansfield Police Department contacted Deputy Day
and notified him that they stopped Ms. Miller. Ms. Miller was
arrested for outstanding warrants and Mr. Perkins’ vehicle
was impounded.
On 27 Dec 08 an employee of Schaffer’s
Auto Center, 35 Caywood Road, Marietta, reported finding a
black fifteen speed mountain bike at the business. This case
remains open pending identification of the bike’s owner
(610).
On 27 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested
a summons for Stephen G. Cottrell, age 44, 1045 Ridgewood Boulevard,
Belpre, for disorderly conduct. Late in the afternoon Mr. Cottrell
was in an argument with his wife over financial matters. At
one point in the argument Mr. Cottrell threw a lug wrench in
the direction of his wife.
On 27 Dec 08 Richard E. Thomas, age 58, 29
E. Liberty Street, Newton Falls, OH, reported sometime after
Thanksgiving an unknown suspect(s) attempted to enter his hunting
cabin on State Route 260 in New Matamoras. Mr. Thomas said
pry marks were visible on a door and window but no items are
missing from inside the cabin. This case remains under investigation
(592).
On 27 Dec 08 John M. Logue, age 18, 585 Ridgewood
Boulevard, Belpre, struck a deer as he was traveling eastbound
on Braun Road. Mr. Logue reported no injuries; his 2001 Jeep
Wrangler sustained disabling damage (597).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
David Alan Hiney, age 3714 Copley Road, Akron, for OVI and
for failure to control, both misdemeanors. Hiney was arrested
on State Route 26 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 Dec 08 at 2:55 am.
William Thomas Gilliam, age 45, 3155 State Route 26, New Matamoras,
for driving under an OVI suspended license, for not stopping
at a stop sign and for operating a vehicle with plates belonging
to the former owner, all misdemeanors. Gilliam was arrested
in New Matamoras by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
27 Dec 08 at 7:58 pm.
James Joseph O’Connell, age 51, 1205 County House Lane
Apt. E, Marietta, for consuming alcohol in a vehicle, a misdemeanor.
O’Connell was arrested in New Matamoras by Chief Bourne
of the New Matamoras Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 27 Dec 08 at 8:00 pm.
