On 23 Dec 08 Deputies responded to the scene
of death of a three month old boy in New Matamoras. Initial
findings are that the death was due to SIDS; however, this
case remains under investigation (592, 712).
On 23 Dec 08 Angela R. Rexroad, age 35, 26935
State Route 7 Apt. 6A, Marietta, reported sometime during the
night an unknown suspect(s) entered her locked vehicle and
stole her in dash CD player and an emergency kit containing
oil and various fluids. This case remains under investigation
(1184).
On 23 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Norman responded
to a vehicle fire at the intersection of County Nine Road and
Dana’s Run Road in Newport. Four days earlier the vehicle,
a Chevy S-10, was involved in another fire that caused damage
to the seat before being extinguished. In this instance the
truck was fully engulfed in flames and extinguished after sustaining
major damage. Acting on a tip, Deputy Norman identified a suspect
in the arson as Matthew Friend, age 39, 4770 County Nine Road,
Reno. Though he first denied being connected to the fire in
any way, Mr. Friend recanted his statement and admitted starting
the fire with a Bic lighter. Mr. Friend said he was tired of
the truck being there and thought if he burnt the truck it
would be hauled away. In consequence, Deputy Norman requested
a summons for Mr. Friend for arson.
On 23 Dec 08 Rikki Groves, age 20, 3719 Blue
Knob Road, Marietta, reported while she was away from her home
shopping that evening an unknown suspect(s) entered her home.
Ms. Groves said some of the stolen items were wrapped Christmas
gifts and include a train set, a toy truck and clothing. This
case remains under investigation (508, 1293).
On 23 Dec 08 Bessie M. Schofield, age 67,
309 Simpson Street, Marietta, reported a female who visited
her residence that afternoon may have stolen thirty Oxycodone
pills while she left her purse unattended. This case remains
under investigation (1097).
The following individual
was processed into the Washington County Jail:
Michael Shane Davis, age 41, 152 Dawes Circle,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Davis was arrested at his residence by Probation Officer Willson
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Dec 08
at 2:58 pm.
