On 22 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins responded
to the scene of death of a ninety-one year old New Matamoras
resident. The woman’s death appears natural; no foul
play is suspected.
On 22 Dec 08 residents at 1688 Barth Road
and 1311 Mill Branch Road in Belpre reported Christmas decorations
were stolen from their property during the night. Stolen from
the Barth Road residence of Dorothy Christopher, age 87, was
a four foot plastic Santa Claus figure and stolen from the
Mill Branch Road residence of Wilbur W. Amick, age 69, were
baby Jesus and Joseph figures. This case remains under investigation
(232, 296).
On 22 Dec 08 Delores M. Brooks, age 73, 21419
State Route 676, Marietta, reported finding unopened mail scattered
along the roadway near her open mailbox. Ms. Brooks does not
believe anything was stolen from among the outgoing items she
placed in her mailbox the previous evening (610).
On 22 Dec 08 a member of Friendship Ridge
Church, 4883 Braun Road, Belpre, reported sometime between
2 pm on 21 Dec and 11 am on 22 Dec an unknown suspect(s) entered
the church through an unlocked door and stole coins, currency
and possibly a few checks from a donation jar. This case remains
under investigation (707).
On 22 Dec 08 Jason Lemon, age 29, 161 Turner
Drive, Belpre, reported upon receiving notification from the
IRS that he owed back taxes he determined an unknown subject
in North Carolina was using his social security number for
employment purposes. Mr. Lemon said he found no unusual activity
on his credit report during the time his information was used
for employment. Unable to file charges in this venue, Deputy
Sheriff Eddy forwarded this case to law enforcement authorities
in North Carolina for further investigation.
On 22 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Eddy responded
to the scene of death of a twenty-eight year old Lowell resident.
Though the man’s death appears to be due to a self-inflicted
gunshot, this case remains under investigation.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
William Henry Thomas, age 39, 836 Pike Street
Apt. 4, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered
hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Thomas was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 Dec 08 at 2:23 am.
Gale Allen Hendershot, age 43, 5215 State
Route 260, New Matamoras, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Hendershot was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 22 Dec 08 at 11:15 am.
Eric Christopher Edgar, age 24, 417 Goss Fork Road, Whipple,
for violating the terms of his parole, a felony. Edgar was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Smith and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 22 Dec 08 at 3:00 pm.
