On 19 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Simmons responded
to the scene of a vehicle fire at the intersection of County
Nine Road and Dana’s Run Road in Newport. Extinguished
by the Newport Fire Department, the blaze caused significant
damage to the passenger compartment of the Chevy S-10 owned
by Timothy A. Cline, age 20, 24689 State Route 26, New Matamoras.
When interviewed Mr. Cline said he was driving home on 15 Dec
when his truck overheated and he saw flames through a hole
in the floorboard. Mr. Cline said he doused the fire with water,
departed for his residence and was going to return to the truck
to move it at a later date. This case remains under investigation.
On 19 Dec 08 Louise P. McAtee, age 32, 303
Dempsie Avenue, Parkersburg, reported receiving notification
from Napoli’s Pizza that checks from an account she closed
in June were used to purchase food on three occasions in November
and December. Ms. McAtee said she believes a friend of her
boyfriend’s ex-wife stole the checks from her residence
due to the fact that the pizza deliveries were made in the
vicinity of the suspect’s residence. This case remains
under investigation (790).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Drew Erik Hanson, age 22, 460 Coal Run Drive,
Lowell, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Hanson was arrested
at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Richards and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 19 Dec 08 at 2:51 am.
James Covert Hribal, age 61, 26 Church Street,
Cameron, WV, for theft, a felony. Hribal was picked up at the
Saint Marys Correctional Center by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 19 Dec 08 at 10:04
am.
John Douglas Pugh, age 28, 312 Matthew Street, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Pugh was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 19 Dec 08 at 10:20
am.
Thomas Paul Daugherty, age 29, Marietta, for contempt for
failing to pay fines, a misdemeanor. Daugherty turned himself
in to Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and was processed into the
Washington County Jail on 19 Dec 08 at 10:39 am.
Christopher Scott Hawk, age 32, 910 Fourth Street, Marietta,
for burglary, a felony. Hawk was arrested on Seventh Street
by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 19 Dec 08
at 11:57 pm.
