On 18 Dec 08 Lt. Coppernoll, while working
as resource officer at Warren High School, investigated an
assault committed by a fifteen year old student on a sixteen
year old student. The assailant claimed he retaliated after
being punched in the groin but Lt. Coppernoll found several
inconsistencies in his statement. This case remains open pending
an interview with the victim.
On 18 Dec 08 Matthew Belt, age 36, 740 Cole-Coffman
Road, Marietta, injured his middle and ring fingers during
his shift at Eramet. Transported to the hospital, Mr. Belt
said he suffered the injury when he unhooked a chain and the
excess chain loosened and fell on his hand. A witness confirmed
the incident was purely accidental (608).
On 18 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Carr requested
a summons for a twelve year old Belpre resident to appear in
Juvenile Court for being unruly. The girl’s stepfather
reported the juvenile was upset that she was asked to do the
dishes and began hitting the walls, throwing things and screaming.
When Deputy Carr arrived at the home the juvenile was visibly
upset and crying. She said she didn’t think it was fair
that she was asked to do the dishes.
On 18 Dec 08 Norma Hanson, age 21,18001 State
Route 676, Marietta, reported she was at her estranged husband’s
residence to allow him to see their son when the two engaged
in an argument over their failed marriage. Ms. Hanson said
her husband, Drew E. Hanson, age 22, 460 Coal Run Drive, Lowell,
grabbed her by the neck and tried to force her out of the room
where they were arguing. Able to grab her son and escape, Ms.
Hanson exhibited marks on her neck consistent with her account.
Mr. Hanson tried to provide a plausible explanation for his
actions, saying his wife pushed him and wrapped her arm around
his neck. However, evidence was not present to support Mr.
Hanson’s version of events. As a result, Deputy Sheriff
Richards arrested Mr. Hanson for domestic violence and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jeffrey Dean Parker, age 43, 3730 State Route
26, Marietta, for OVI and for not stopping at a stop sign,
both misdemeanors. Parker was arrested in Belpre by Patrolman
Augenstein of the Belpre City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Dec 08 at 12:15 am.
Jerrie Lynn Rastorfer, age 51, 6466 Germantown
Road, Lower Salem, for OVI, for not wearing a seat belt and
for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, all misdemeanors.
Rastorfer was arrested on Matthew Street by Deputy Sheriff
K. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 18 Dec 08 at 11:45 am.
Timothy Ray King, age 19, 506 McDonald Road, Waterford, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. King was
arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 18 Dec 08 at 2:48 pm.
Alex Michael Wynstra Jr., age 22, 121 State Route 550, Cutler,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Wynstra
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 18 Dec 08
at 4:31 pm.
Jamie Lynn Smith, age 28, 401 Third Street, Macksburg, for
passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested in Macksburg
by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 18 Dec 08 at 6:25 pm.
Robert Michael Russell, age 19, 306 Harmar Street, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Russell was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 18 Dec 08 at 11:10 pm.
