On 4 Dec 08 Vernina Sarringhausen, age 40, 425 Mount Tom Road, Marietta, reported her Riverview Credit Union debit card was stolen sometime after 2 Dec and used to pay a $214 Alltell bill. This case remains under investigation (597).

On 4 Dec 08 Samuel E. Wharton, age 79, 128 Mill Branch Road, Belpre, reported he was checking his mail when he heard a gunshot. Summoned inside his home by his wife, Mr. Wharton observed what appeared to be a bullet hole in the drywall of a bedroom. Deputy Sheriff Thorpe forwarded this case to the Department of Natural Resources for further investigation.

On 4 Dec 08 Robert Barth, age 67, 25 Coplin Street, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) stole five plastic containers holding approximately 600 pounds of copper insulated wire from his property. This case remains under investigation (805).

On 4 Dec 08 Joanna L. Brooks, age 25, 280 ½ Muskingum Drive, Marietta, reported three checks from her People’s Bank account were stolen from her father’s residence in Fleming. The suspect later forged the checks for a total of $1,000 and cashed them at a local bank. This case remains under investigation (805).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jeffrey Allen Braun, age 21, 1080 Walsh Road, Vincent, for breaking and entering, a felony. Braun was arrested on Goose Run Road by Detective Rhodes of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Dec 08 at 1:55 pm.

Steve Larry Gasper, age 46, PO Box 462, Waverly, WV, for OVI and for driving under an OVI suspended license, both misdemeanors. Gasper was arrested in Newport by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 4 Dec 08 at 7:07 pm.
