On 3 Dec 08 Lt. Coppernoll and Deputy Sheriff Norman investigated a report of a female standing in the driveway of 6101 State Route 60, Marietta, and shouting for help. Jade Tomblin, age 18, stated she was involved in an argument with her husband over their car breaking down and her husband began throwing things around their house. Mrs. Tomblin refused to write a statement but commented she was not afraid of her husband and said that she only wanted him to leave the residence. Confirming Mrs. Tomblin’s statement with that of her husband, Deputy Norman closed this case as unfounded.

On 3 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a citation to Thomas Jones, age 50, 801 Jones Road, Waterford, for disorderly conduct. Upset following an argument with his wife over her smoking habit, Mr. Jones began throwing dishes, pots and pans around their kitchen. Mrs. Jones said at no time did she fear for her safety.

On 3 Dec 08 Sarah A. Casto, age 31, 7355 Veto Road, Belpre, reported she believes an acquaintance took her 1991 Cadillac Deville without permission. On 3 Dec 08 a resident on Goose Run Road in Marietta reported hearing a female shout “don’t hurt me” near her residence. Arriving at the intersection of State Route 26 and Caywood Road, Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff Thorpe observed Larry D. Haught Jr., age 28, 555 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, grabbing a female around the waist. Mr. Haught obeyed a request to cross the street to speak with the Deputies and cursed at them as he approached. Visibly intoxicated, Mr. Haught ignored orders to keep his hands in view and instead made an obscene gesture. Refusing to cooperate any further, Mr. Haught struggled as he was placed on the ground and handcuffed. After he was taken into custody Haught continued to yell and curse and threatened to fight with Deputies. In the rear of a cruiser, Haught threatened to kill the Deputies and their families, repeatedly struck his head on the Plexiglas divider and attempted to kick a window out of the car. Charged with aggravated menacing, disorderly conduct by intoxication and resisting arrest, Haught was incarcerated in the Washington County Jail.

On 3 Dec 08 Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio observed trash dumped along Brooks Road approximately a half mile from Cow Run Road in Lawrence Township. Contacting township officials to dispose of the glass bottles, tires, chairs and plastic bags, Deputy Travaglio will continue her efforts to identify the origin of the refuse.

Tammie Ruth-Love, age 44, informed the Deputies her two sons were involved in a brief disagreement that resulted in her younger son throwing a cordless phone charger against the wall. Ms. Ruth said no physical violence took place and at no time was anyone in fear for their safety. As a result, Deputy Spencer closed this case as unfounded.
