On 28 Nov 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
citation to Marcus C. Sabo, age 30, 1866 Marks Avenue, Akron,
for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Smeeks originally stopped
Mr. Sabo for speeding near milepost sixteen on Interstate 77
in Aurelius Township.
TWO TREATED FOR CARBON MONOXIDE POISONING
On
28 Nov 08 the Sheriff’s
Office assisted the New Matamoras Volunteer Emergency Squad
concerning an incident involving Lester and Jean Powell, both
age 57, 4022 Lincoln Way E., Massillon, OH. The Powells
are building a log home at 2060 Hutchinson Road, New Matamoras.
During the construction of this home they are residing in a
camper which is located in a large garage. The garage was heated
by a space heater and the camper by propane heat. They were
discovered in a semi conscious condition by Curt Hendershot
of New Matamoras who is assisting them in the construction
of their new home. Hendershot call the New Matamoras Squad
who treated them at the scene for carbon monoxide poisoning.
They were then transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital for
further treatment.
Caution should be used in the use of space heaters and carbon
monoxide detectors are recommended.
TWO INJURED IN SEPARATE HORSE INCIDENTS
At 1529 on 27 Nov 08 the Sheriff’s Office received a
call concerning a 21 year old male who had was been pinned
underneath a horse. Kevin M. Guiler, age 21, 1438 Milner Road,
Waterford, OH was riding when he was thrown or fell from his
horse. Guiler after landing on the ground was apparently rolled
on several times by the horse that was unaware of his injuries.
He was treated at the scene by the Beverly-Waterford Emergency
Medical Squad. He was life flighted to Ohio State University
Trauma Center by Med Flight from a landing zone established
in the parking lot at Fort Frye High School. Guiler is listed
in serious but stable condition.
At 1621 on 27 Nov 08 the Sheriff’s Office received a
call concerning Victoria Nay, age 25, 1221 Whipple Eight Road,
Whipple, OH who had been thrown from a horse while riding at
a residence located at 1465 Whipple Eight Road, Whipple, OH.
Nay who was unconscious at the scene was transported to Marietta
Memorial Hospital by the Salem Volunteer Fire Department Emergency
Squad and then life flighted by Med Flight to the Ohio State
University Trauma Center. Nay is listed in good condition.
The following individual
wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Robert William Laeng, age 19, 580 Louis Drive, Berea, OH,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and for speeding,
both misdemeanors. Laeng was arrested near milepost eight on
Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Nov 08 at 2:10 pm.
