On 14 Nov 08 an employee of Eramet, 16705 State Route 7, Marietta, reported sometime over the past month an unknown suspect(s) stole a large quantity of copper shunts, plates and other miscellaneous copper items, a loss of over $10,000. This case remains under investigation (707).

On 14 Nov 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe requested a summons for a thirteen year old New Matamoras resident to appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by assault. The previous day the Frontier Middle School student was arguing with a classmate when the teacher stepped between the two in order to quell the situation. At that point the suspect advanced toward the teacher in a threatening manner and used his body to push her.

On 14 Nov 08 a forty year old Belpre resident reported she and her daughter have been receiving vulgar and obscene phone calls. Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio advised the suspects to cease phoning the victim and said if they continue to make call the victim may pursue charges.

On 14 Nov 08 George Cline, age 47, 990 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, reported around 12:30 am a carload of people drove onto his property and refused to leave despite the property being posted as “no trespassing.” Mr. Cline said one of the suspects, Larry Haught Jr., age 28, 555 Dodd Run Road, Marietta, appeared at his doorstep in an intoxicated state and stated the car in which he was riding was stuck in a mud hole. Shortly after Lt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio arrived they observed Jack Longfellow Jr., age 34, 643 Goose Run Road, Marietta, driving the suspect vehicle, holding an open can of beer. Longfellow and his passenger, Matthew D. Wiseman, age 19, 118 Bartlett Street Apt. A, Marietta, ignored orders to stop the vehicle and were later located at a nearby residence. Wiseman said the group of people drove onto the property to look at a cabin and that Haught and Pebble M. Longfellow, age 23, 2289 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, bailed from the car after seeing deputies along the road. At that time Deputy Travaglio arrested Mr. Wiseman for criminal trespassing. Mr. Longfellow was also arrested for OVI, criminal trespassing and for possession of drugs after a search of the vehicle yielded diazepam pills. Deputy Travaglio requested summonses for Ms. Longfellow and Mr. Haught for criminal trespassing.
