On 14 Nov 08 an employee of Eramet, 16705
State Route 7, Marietta, reported sometime over the past month
an unknown suspect(s) stole a large quantity of copper shunts,
plates and other miscellaneous copper items, a loss of over
$10,000. This case remains under investigation (707).
On 14 Nov 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe requested
a summons for a thirteen year old New Matamoras resident to
appear in Juvenile Court on a charge of delinquency by assault.
The previous day the Frontier Middle School student was arguing
with a classmate when the teacher stepped between the two in
order to quell the situation. At that point the suspect advanced
toward the teacher in a threatening manner and used his body
to push her.
On 14 Nov 08 a forty year old Belpre resident
reported she and her daughter have been receiving vulgar and
obscene phone calls. Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio advised the
suspects to cease phoning the victim and said if they continue
to make call the victim may pursue charges.
On 14 Nov 08 George Cline, age 47, 990 Dodd
Run Road, Marietta, reported around 12:30 am a carload of people
drove onto his property and refused to leave despite the property
being posted as “no trespassing.” Mr. Cline said
one of the suspects, Larry Haught Jr., age 28, 555 Dodd Run
Road, Marietta, appeared at his doorstep in an intoxicated
state and stated the car in which he was riding was stuck in
a mud hole. Shortly after Lt. Gherke and Deputy Sheriff K.
Travaglio arrived they observed Jack Longfellow Jr., age 34,
643 Goose Run Road, Marietta, driving the suspect vehicle,
holding an open can of beer. Longfellow and his passenger,
Matthew D. Wiseman, age 19, 118 Bartlett Street Apt. A, Marietta,
ignored orders to stop the vehicle and were later located at
a nearby residence. Wiseman said the group of people drove
onto the property to look at a cabin and that Haught and Pebble
M. Longfellow, age 23, 2289 Blue Knob Road, Marietta, bailed
from the car after seeing deputies along the road. At that
time Deputy Travaglio arrested Mr. Wiseman for criminal trespassing.
Mr. Longfellow was also arrested for OVI, criminal trespassing
and for possession of drugs after a search of the vehicle yielded
diazepam pills. Deputy Travaglio requested summonses for Ms.
Longfellow and Mr. Haught for criminal trespassing.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Mitchell Lee Erb, age 22, 1006 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras,
for a felony charge of receiving stolen property and for a
misdemeanor charge of criminal mischief. Erb was arrested at
Marietta Memorial Hospital by Sgt. Gherke of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 Nov 08 at 12:09 am.
Jack William Longfellow, age 34, 643 Goose Run Road, Marietta,
for being in physical control of a vehicle while under the
influence of alcohol, for possession of drugs and for criminal
trespassing, all misdemeanors. Longfellow was arrested on Dodd
Run Road by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 14 Nov 08 at 2:51 am.
Matthew David Wiseman, age 19, 118 Bartlett Street Apt. A,
Marietta, for criminal trespassing, a misdemeanor. Wiseman
was arrested on Dodd Run Road by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Nov 08
at 3:32 am.
William Robert Harris, age 28, 1535 Braun
Road, Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, for failing to confine/restrain a dog, for
driving under a suspended license and for not wearing a seat
belt, all misdemeanors. Harris was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 Nov 08 at 11:50 pm.
