On 27 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Spencer and the Warren Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to the scene of a small fire in a hopper at Eramet, 16705 State Route 7, Marietta. The fire, contained by employees and allowed to burn itself out, caused minimal damage. The plant manager said the fire was caused by metal briquettes overheating and a fire such as this is always a possibility at a plant like Eramet.

On 27 Oct 08 Melissa Ruble, age 42, 80 Heeter Road, Newport, reported ten pills from her daughter’s prescription for Concerta were stolen sometime since the prescription was filled on 12 Oct. This case remains under investigation (500).

On 27 Oct 08 a seventeen year old Marietta resident reported her former live-in boyfriend, Jason A. Turner, age 20, 1208 Lockwood Street Apt. B, Belpre, appeared at her place of employment and created a disturbance. The victim said Mr. Turner was very agitated, began yelling and pounded on the counter as she attended to a customer. Another employee at the restaurant said she feared for her safety after Mr. Turner threatened to burn the store and refused requests to calm down. The teenage victim escorted Mr. Turner from the store at which time he pushed the victim and slammed the glass door on her arm. In consequence, Deputy Sheriff Richards arrested Mr. Turner for domestic violence and aggravated menacing and transported him to the Washington County Jail.

On 27 Oct 08 Lt. Huffer requested summonses for a fifteen year old Little Hocking resident and a fifteen year old Vincent resident to appear in Juvenile Court on respective charges of delinquency by theft and delinquency by receiving stolen property. Lt. Huffer’s affidavit alleges the Little Hocking resident stole an iPod from another student at Warren High School on 3 Oct 08. The thief then allegedly brokered the deal with the other student to sell the stolen iPod and split the profits. Lt. Huffer recovered the media player and returned it to its owner.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Shawn Joseph Sims, age 18, 55011 Hudson Road, Reedsville, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Sims was arrested near Farson Street on US 50 by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 08 at 3:50 pm.

Jason Alan Turner, age 20, 1208 Lockwood Street Apt. B, Belpre, for domestic violence and for aggravated menacing, both misdemeanors. Turner was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Richards and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 08 at 4:30 pm.

Christopher Scott Holder, age 24, 4755 Waterford Road, Marietta, for operating a vehicle without a license and for speeding, both misdemeanors. Holder was arrested on State Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 08 at 5:17 pm.

William Thomas Gilliam, age 44, 3155 State Route 26, Marietta, for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor. Gilliam was arrested on State Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 Oct 08 at 7:40 pm.
