On 23 Oct 08 Beverly J. Swain, age 44, 11310
State Route 339, Vincent, ran approximately 2.9 miles from
her home to Par Mar to phone for help after being assaulted
by her husband. Ms. Swain said her husband Michael, age 37,
pushed her to the floor and tried to physically throw her out
their front door. Falling to the floor of their porch, Mrs.
Swain stated her husband commented that he could snap her neck
and have his friends in Chesterhill help hide her body. Unrepentant
when interviewed by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio, Mr. Swain
commented that he can say whatever he wants to his wife. As
a result of her investigation Deputy Travaglio arrested Mr.
Swain for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
On 23 Oct 08 Brandon L. Howard, age 22, 5109
Stanleyville Road, Whipple, struck a deer as he traveled southbound
on Stanleyville Road near milepost 2.5. Mr. Howard’s
Chevy SUV sustained functional damage; neither Mr. Howard nor
his two passengers reported injuries (805).
On 23 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
John A. Dye II, age 42, 356 Coffman Road Apt. 5, Marietta,
for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Mr. Dye was in the driver’s seat of a vehicle parked
along Germantown Road when Deputy Mankins stopped to provide
assistance. Smelling an odor of marijuana, Deputy Mankins asked
for and was granted permission to search Mr. Dye’s vehicle.
The resulting search yielded a marijuana pipe and small quantity
of marijuana.
On 23 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Bradley M. Shumate, age 25, 1880 Hebbardsville
Road, Albany, OH, for traveling 70 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy
Smeeks stopped Mr. Shumate near milepost eight on State Route
7 in Belpre Township.
On 23 Oct 08 Calvin J. Martin, age 36, 1308
Williamson Avenue Apt. 6E, New Matamoras, reported four thirty
six inch Mad Dog mudding tires were stolen from the bed of
his pickup truck while it was parked at 1302 Williamson Avenue
overnight. This case remains under investigation (1106).
On 23 Oct 08 Sgt. Stackpole issued a citation
to Shane A. Faddis, age 21, 407 Four Mile Creek Road, Coolville,
for having fictitious registration and for driving with an
operator’s license that expired in April 2008. Sgt. Stackpole
stopped Mr. Faddis near on US 50 near Collins Road in Belpre
Township.
On 23 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio arrested
Tanya M. Wentz, age 36, 501 Second Street Apt. 3, Marietta,
for OVI, possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Stopped for not stopping at the intersection of State Route
550 and State Route 7, Ms. Wentz had a strong odor of alcohol
and red, watery eyes. Following her poor performance on field
sobriety tests, Ms. Wentz was transported to the Washington
County Jail where she tested .081 BAC. Inventorying Ms. Wentz’s
car before having it towed, Deputy Travaglio discovered a canister
containing marijuana and a pack of rolling papers.
On 23 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Michael B. Cunnington, age 23, 1726 Yale Avenue,
Canton, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy Smeeks
stopped Mr. Cunnington near milepost two on State Route 7 in
Belpre Township.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Tanya Michelle Wentz, age 36, 501 Second Street Apt. 3, Marietta,
for OVI, possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and for failing to obey the right of way, all misdemeanors.
Wentz was arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 23 Oct 08
at 2:10 am.
Michael Ray Swain, age 37, 11310 State Route 339, Vincent,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Swain was arrested at
his residence by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 23 Oct 08 at 8:18 am.
John Allen Dye II, age 42, 356 Coffman Road
Apt. 5, Marietta, for possession of drugs and possession of
drug paraphernalia, both misdemeanors. Dye was arrested on
Germantown Road by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 23 Oct 08 at 5:38 pm.
