On 20 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Carr responded to a fire at a property owned by Jeff Harris, age 43, at 1175 Michaelis Road, Marietta. The blaze began as a trash fire set by a tenant of Mr. Harris and quickly progressed into a brush fire then spread to a storage building on the property. Prior to being extinguished by the Warren Fire Department the fire caused substantial to a John Deere Gator, three lawn tractors, a generator, air compressors, six motorcycles and a Chevy van that were inside the storage building. The Warren Fire Chief determined the cause of fire was accidental and it was not maliciously set.

On 20 Oct 08 a Belpre resident arrived at the Sheriff’s Office with her fifteen year old granddaughter who was reported missing from her residence in Meigs County. Deputy Sheriff Thorpe contacted the teenager’s mother who later came and picked up her daughter.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Ronald Ray Bailey, age 45, 735 Eighth Street Apt. 1, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Bailey was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 20 Oct 08 at 2:55 pm.
