On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Anderson was dispatched to the scene of an altercation at 20670 State Route 550, Marietta. Roger J. Clark, age 60, 7753 State Route 530, Lower Salem, said he was involved in a confrontation with Daniel P. Williams, age 21, 1091 State Route 339, Belpre, over the fact that Mr. Williams was in violation of his bond after being arrested for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Mr. Clark’s sixteen year old niece, who is the victim in the case, was at the aforementioned address and attempted to intervene when she noticed the two men arguing. At some point the teenager said her uncle struck her in the face and pushed her to the ground as he prolonged the incident with Mr. Williams. Tempers seemed to quell thereafter but Mr. Williams entered his truck and struck Mr. Clark before he sped off. Mr. Clark was not seriously injured but was knocked to the ground. As a result of the incident Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested summonses for Mr. Williams for assault and for Mr. Williams for domestic violence. For allegedly slapping her uncle, the teenager will also receive a summons to appear in Juvenile Court for being delinquent.

On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe responded to the scene of death of an eighty-three year old Whipple resident. The man’s death appears to be due a self-inflicted gunshot wound; no foul play is suspected.

On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks was dispatched to a possible domestic dispute at 4220 Welch Road, Little Hocking. Interviewing the involved parties, Deputy Smeeks determined no threats were made and no act of domestic violence occurred.

On 12 Oct 08 the driver of a vehicle, believed to be a Chevy SUV, struck a parked Oldsmobile Alero in the parking lot of Norm’s Auto Repair at 10500 State Route 550, Barlow. The Alero, owned by James E. Palmer, 871 Warren Chapel Road, Fleming, sustained non-functional damage to the front driver’s side fender. A license plate recovered at the scene leads Deputy Sheriff Hall to believe the SUV is owned by Anthony J. Curry, 554 Curry Road, Waterford. Attempts to locate Mr. Curry are ongoing.
