On 12 Oct 08 Charles Burton, age 26, 1320
Drag Strip Road, Belpre, reported $1,500 worth of construction
materiel was stolen from his property while he was on a camping
trip. The stolen items include a digital thermostat, boxes
of floor tile, three breakers, a tool set, water line, light
fixtures and cans of spray foam. This case remains under investigation
(684).
On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Anderson was dispatched
to the scene of an altercation at 20670 State Route 550, Marietta.
Roger J. Clark, age 60, 7753 State Route 530, Lower Salem,
said he was involved in a confrontation with Daniel P. Williams,
age 21, 1091 State Route 339, Belpre, over the fact that Mr.
Williams was in violation of his bond after being arrested
for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor. Mr. Clark’s
sixteen year old niece, who is the victim in the case, was
at the aforementioned address and attempted to intervene when
she noticed the two men arguing. At some point the teenager
said her uncle struck her in the face and pushed her to the
ground as he prolonged the incident with Mr. Williams. Tempers
seemed to quell thereafter but Mr. Williams entered his truck
and struck Mr. Clark before he sped off. Mr. Clark was not
seriously injured but was knocked to the ground. As a result
of the incident Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested summonses
for Mr. Williams for assault and for Mr. Williams for domestic
violence. For allegedly slapping her uncle, the teenager will
also receive a summons to appear in Juvenile Court for being
delinquent.
On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe responded
to the scene of death of an eighty-three year old Whipple resident.
The man’s death appears to be due a self-inflicted gunshot
wound; no foul play is suspected.
On 12 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks was dispatched
to a possible domestic dispute at 4220 Welch Road, Little Hocking.
Interviewing the involved parties, Deputy Smeeks determined
no threats were made and no act of domestic violence occurred.
On 12 Oct 08 Sandra J. Whittle, age 34, 1080
Sandhill Road, Marietta, reported when she and her husband
returned home from camping after two days they noticed finger
and handprints on a rear window. Mrs. Whittle said it appears
an unknown suspect(s) climbed on top of the air conditioner
in attempt to enter the home. This case remains under investigation
(805).
On 12 Oct 08 the driver of a vehicle, believed
to be a Chevy SUV, struck a parked Oldsmobile Alero in the
parking lot of Norm’s Auto Repair at 10500 State Route
550, Barlow. The Alero, owned by James E. Palmer, 871 Warren
Chapel Road, Fleming, sustained non-functional damage to the
front driver’s side fender. A license plate recovered
at the scene leads Deputy Sheriff Hall to believe the SUV is
owned by Anthony J. Curry, 554 Curry Road, Waterford. Attempts
to locate Mr. Curry are ongoing.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Chad Anthony Moore, age 38, 105 Oakwood Drive,
Little Hocking, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Moore was arrested on Greene Street in Marietta by Patrolman
McCracken of the Marietta City Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 1:40 am.
Richard Anthony Waters, age 43, 15753 Waterford
Road, Waterford, for OVI, for driving under an OVI suspended
license and for having a defective exhaust, all misdemeanors.
Waters was arrested on State Route 339 in Beverly by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 2:35 am.
Hector Sebastian Antonio, age 22, State Route
60, Beverly, for being an illegal alien and for misdemeanor
charges of OVI and operating a vehicle without a license. Antonio
was arrested in Beverly by Chief Brockmeier of the Beverly
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 3:50 am.
Charles Michael Moore, age 53, 165 Pam Road,
New Matamoras, for OVI, a misdemeanor. Moore was arrested on
State Route 7 by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Oct 08
at 4:15 am.
Stephen Paul Ritchie, age 39, 165 Pam Road,
New Matamoras, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Ritchie was arrested on State Route 7 by Chief Bourne of the
New Matamoras Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 4:15 am.
Sandra Kay Skelly, age 55, 497 Beach Drive,
Belpre, for failure top appear, a misdemeanor. Skelly was arrested
at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 5:45 pm.
James Eugene Wright, age 41, 665 Tadpole Run
Road, Belpre, for a felony charge of breaking and entering
and for a misdemeanor charge of theft. Wright turned himself
in to Deputy Sheriff Carr and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 12 Oct 08 at 8:25 pm.
