On 2 Oct 08 an employer of Energizer, 2036
Blue Knob Road, Marietta, reported witnessing two unknown males
loading spools of electrical wire into the back of a pickup
truck. Before he was able to stop the suspects the employee
says he believes they stole three spools of wire with a total
value over $500. This case remains under investigation (1293).
On 2 Oct 08 Sgt. Underwood investigated the
theft of items from a camper owned by David Mossor, age 51,
13425 Sugar Bush Avenue NW, Mogodore, OH. The camper, located
at 1145 Wilson Run Road, Wingett Run, was heavily damaged,
with the electrical wiring and air conditioner town from the
walls. This case remains under investigation (592).
On 2 Oct 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Braden Edmunds Nida, age 55, 150 Seneca Drive, Marietta, for
OVI. Stopped for weaving over the fog line, Mr. Nida had an
odor of alcohol and bloodshot eyes. Following his poor performance
on field sobriety tests Mr. Nida was transported to the Washington
County Jail where he refused a BAC test.
On 2 Oct 08 Lt. Wilson and Deputy Sheriff
Smeeks were dispatched to 5009 Kidder Drive, Belpre, in response
to a report of domestic violence. At the scene Tamela Rhodes,
age 44, 820 Mill Branch Road, Belpre, stated she picked up
her son Anthony, age 19, in Parkersburg and drove him to the
scene. Mrs. Rhodes said her son was highly intoxicated and
argued with her over monetary matters and about him being drunk.
During the argument Mr. Rhodes called his mother derogatory
names and slapped Mrs. Rhodes three times. Mr. Rhodes admitted
slapping his mother but said he didn’t slap her very
hard. As a result of the incident, Deputy Smeeks arrested Mr.
Rhodes for underage consumption of alcohol and domestic violence
and transported him to the Washington County Jail.
On 2 Oct 08 Donna Croxton, age 53, 1139 Welch
Road, Cutler, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s)
entered a locked garage on her property and stole an ATV, two
compound bows, a crossbow and various other hunting items.
This case remains under investigation (792).

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Wayne Anthony Rhodes, age 19, 820 Mill Branch
Road, Belpre, for domestic violence and for underage consumption
of alcohol, both misdemeanors. Rhodes was arrested on State
Route 339 by Lt. Wilson of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Oct
08 at 3:59 am.
Daniel Scott Powell, age 32, 438 Main Street,
Chillicothe, for OVI, for driving under an OVI suspended license,
for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for not
wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Powell was arrested
near milepost three on US 50 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Oct 08 at
10:00 am.
Jonah Timothy Carmichael, age 21, 304 Bellview Street Apt.
3, Marietta, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing
on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Carmichael was arrested at
the Marietta City Police Department by Patrolman Kampmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Oct 08 at
11:36 am.
Matthew James Cornell, age 24, 704 Elm Street Apt. 10, Belpre,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Cornell was arrested at the office of
Probation Officer Brockmeier and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 2 Oct 08 at 3:22 pm.
Donald Ray Meador, age 58, 817 Grandview Avenue, New Matamoras,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Meador was arrested in New Matamoras
by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2 Oct
08 at 4:04 pm.

OVI, a misdemeanor. Nida was arrested in Devola by Deputy Sheriff
Mankins and processed into the Washington County Jail on 2
Oct 08 at 8:00 pm.
