On 15 Sep 08 Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio conducted
a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by Mark Edward Ash, age
46, 723 Eighth Street, Marietta, after observing the vehicle
weaving in and out of its lane of travel on State Route 7.
Mr. Ash immediately became irate, exclaiming through his slurred
speech that he only drank one beer. Falling out of the vehicle
as he exited, Mr. Ash performed poorly on field sobriety tests
and nearly fell over a guardrail. Arrested for OVI, Mr. Ash
continued to rant and rave and banged his head into the window
after he was placed in Deputy Travaglio’s cruiser. A
back seat passenger in the vehicle, Donald G. Holdren, age
42, 301 Oakwood Avenue, Marietta, admitted he and Mr. Ash were
drinking beer in the car when asked about the two open beer
cans near his feet. As a result of the stop Mr. Ash was charged
with consuming alcohol in a vehicle and OVI. Mr. Holdren was
charged with consuming alcohol in a vehicle as well as with
possession of drugs after three halves of alprazolam pills
were found in his pocket at the Washington County Jail.
On 15 Sep 08 an employee of HAP Community
Action, 18615 State Route 7, Marietta, reported forty-four
pallets of produce were stolen from the warehouse sometime
between 1 Aug and 22 Aug. The employee says the missing pallets
would have filled to tractor trailers and is valued at approximately
$30,000. This case remains under investigation (1106).
On 15 Sep 08 Jenna Tuten, age 22, 325 Weppler
Road, Lowell, reported her ex-husband entered an unlocked door
to her residence without permission. Ms. Tuten said the suspect
departed when she asked and did not cause a disturbance. Only
wanting the incident noted, Ms. Tuten declined to pursue the
matter further (945).
On 15 Sep 08 the owner of Turner’s One
Stop, 18990 State Route 339, Waterford, reported on three occasions
in June the owners of a business cashed three checks totaling
$548 that were later returned for non-sufficient funds. This
case remains under investigation (8411).

Ronald Ray Bailey, age 45, 535 Rummer Road, Marietta, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Bailey
was arrested on State Route 7 near State Route 550 by Deputy
Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 5:20 am.
Donald Griffith Holdren, age 42, 301 Oakwood Avenue, Marietta,
for possession of drugs and for consuming alcohol in a vehicle,
both misdemeanors. Holdren was arrested on State Route 7 near
State Route 550 by Deputy Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 5:20 am.
Mark Edward Ash, age 46, 723 Eighth Street, Marietta, for
OVI, consuming alcohol in a vehicle, for driving outside the
marked lanes of travel, for having an inoperable license plate
light and for not wearing a seat belt, all misdemeanors. Ash
was arrested on State Route 7 near State Route 550 by Deputy
Sheriff K. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 5:25 am.
Jacob Edward Mason, age 22, 50 Second Street, Vincent, for
violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Mason
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Hamilton and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 8:30
am.
John Douglas Pugh, age 28, 312 Matthews Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor.
Pugh was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Brockmeier
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 08
at 3:15 pm.
Thomas Paul Daugherty, age 28, 1002 Washington Boulevard,
Belpre, for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on
unpaid fines, a misdemeanor. Daugherty was picked up at the
Belpre Police Department by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 4:00 pm.
Marcus Frank Cook, age 52, 317 Francis Street, Leesville,
SC, a fugitive from justice. Cook was arrested near milepost
eleven on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 8:45
pm.
Shannon Renee Kidder, age 35, 1244 Drag Strip Road, Belpre,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines and for driving under a suspended license, both misdemeanors.
Kidder was arrested on Florence Street by Patrolman Clevenger
of the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 15 Sep 08 at 10:45 pm.
