On 12 Sep 08 Lt. Canavan and Deputy Sheriff Rhodes responded to a report of a possible domestic dispute at lot seven at Davlin Lake. At the scene the Deputies found no evidence of domestic violence but learned that Jerry L. Hess II, age 34, 925 Wiley Street, Belpre, was threatening to harm himself and fashioned a noose from an extension cord. Highly intoxicated, Mr. Hess was yelling at his girlfriend and belligerent toward the Deputies. Ignoring repeated requests to calm down and for his safety, Mr. Hess was arrested for disorderly conduct and transported to the Washington County Jail.

On 12 Sep 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio issued a citation to Ronnie D. Snyder, age 26, 1205 B Wyatt Lane, Belpre, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Travaglio originally stopped Mr. Snyder for improper display of license plates while traveling on State Route 7 near Veto Road in Warren Township.

On 12 Sep 08 Michelle Hartley, age 36, 1074 Newbanks Road, Parkersburg, reported she was moving belongings from her former residence in Belpre when her ex-boyfriend struck her in the chest and choked her. Unable to substantiate Ms. Hartley’s claim through visible marks or additional witness interviews, Deputy Sheriff Malone closed this case.

On 12 Sep 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio issued a citation to James D. Lattea, age 19, 4201 fourth Avenue, Parkersburg, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Travaglio originally stopped Mr. Lattea for failing to signal when turning from School House Road onto State Route 339 in Belpre Township.

On 12 Sep 08 an employee of AEP reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s) cut the fence to enter the company substation at 199 Mill Branch Road, Belpre and stole a seventy-five foot section of copper ground wire. This case remains under investigation (586).

On 12 Sep 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio issued citations to Shawn D. Reynolds, age 22, 374 Barrett-South Road, Vincent, and to Justin G. White, age 25, 61 Mill Street, Vincent for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Travaglio originally stopped Mr. Reynolds for having loud exhaust and for having a cracked windshield while traveling on State Route 339 near School House Road in Belpre Township.

On 12 Sep 08 a caller phoned to report that Jimmy R. Waterman, age 25, 1045 Sandhill Road Lot 10, Marietta, was attempting to harm himself with a sword. When Deputy Sheriffs Norman and Thorpe arrived Mr. Waterman began screaming and shouting obscenities. Ignoring repeated requests to cease his disruptive behavior, Mr. Waterman was arrested for disorderly conduct. Mr. Waterman had minor lacerations on his arms but refused medical treatment and was cleared for incarceration by Marietta Memorial Hospital.

On 12 Sep 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio arrested Robert Whittekind, age 50, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for failure to signal. Stopped for not signaling when he turned from Franklin Street onto Virginia Street in Marietta, Mr. Whittekind’s license is suspended for failing to pay child support.

On 12 Sep 08 Mary M. Busch, age 43, 1179 Brush Road, Marietta, reported while she was away from her residence for several hours that evening an unknown suspect(s) entered her home and stole twelve new pairs of shoes, two bottle of perfume, jewelry and a bottle of Percocet. This case remains under investigation (200).

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Jerry Lee Hess II, age 34, 925 Wiley Street, Belpre, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Hess was arrested at Davlin Lake by Deputy Sheriff Rhodes and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 2:21 am.

Daniel Stephen Lopus, age 24, 1415 Eldridge Parkway Apt. 2531, Houston, TX, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Lopus was arrested on Front Street by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 3:14 am.

William Joseph Jefferson, age 19, 1126 Mason Dixon Highway, Maidsville, WV, for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Jefferson was picked up in Clarksburg, WV by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 11:10 am.

Beatrice Renee Richards, age 51, 1936 Barth Road, Belpre, for felony charges of theft and forgery and for a misdemeanor charge of for violating the terms of her probation. Richards was arrested on State Route 60 by Deputy Sheriff Simmons and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 4:23 pm.

Robert James Whittekind, age 50, Marietta, for driving under a suspended license, for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and for failure to signal, all misdemeanors. Whittekind was arrested on Franklin Street by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 4:50 pm.

Jimmy Ray Waterman, age 26, 1045 Sandhill Road Lot 10, Marietta, for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Waterman was arrested at his residence by Deputy Sheriff Norman and processed into the Washington County Jail on 12 Sep 08 at 11:14 pm.
