On 26 Aug 08 an employee at the Washington
County Juvenile Detention Center reported after hearing a loud
bang at 12:30 am he noticed a seventeen year old Marietta resident
missing from his room. It is believed the juvenile was wearing
a black shirt and black shorts and may be destined for West
Virginia. This case remains under investigation (296).
On 26 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued
a citation to Cecil L. Boley Jr., age 20, 436 Robinson Hill
Road, Marietta, for traveling 72 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy
Smeeks stopped Mr. Boley on State Route 60 near milepost sixteen
in Warren Township.
On 26 Aug 08 David L. Burt, age 46, 17891
State Route 339, Waterford, reported when a tenant vacated
his rental property at 4855 State Route 339 in Vincent the
tenant took with her two garage doors and openers. This case
remains under investigation (684).
On 26 Aug 08 Darrell R. Spears, age 51, 740
North Fork Road, New Matamoras, reported sometime during the
past two days an unknown suspect(s) disposed of several bags
of trash on his property. This case remains under investigation
(1184).
On 26 Aug 08 Joseph J. Miller, age 69, 1680
North Fork Road, New Matamoras, reported the Monroe County
Sheriff’s Office informed him that they recovered a gun
that belonged to him. Upon further recollection, Mr. Miller
stated he believes that two young men that he hired to power
wash his home in July stole the gun along with two rings and
a bracelet that he had in his kitchen. This case remains under
investigation (1184).
On 26 Aug 08 a witness reported finding a
large quantity of copper and aluminum wire on a river bank
directly across from a job site at 375 Muskingum River Road
in Marietta. The materiel appears to be stolen but its origin
is currently unknown. This case remains under investigation
(1106).
On 26 Aug 08 a forty-nine year old Little
Hocking resident reported his thirteen year old son kicked
him in the chest and caused him to fall backwards over a stool.
Upset and arguing over being asked to do extra chores, the
teenager then ran out of the home and grabbed a screwdriver
and pair of pliers. The juvenile reentered the home and pointed
the items at his father in a threatening manner before being
convinced to put down the tools. As a result of the incident,
the teenager was arrested for delinquency by domestic violence
and transported to the Washington County Juvenile Center (1090,
1293).
the Sheriff’s
Office received the following warrants:
Richard D. Arnett, age 64, 726 East Park Avenue,
Fairmont, WV, for violating the terms of his probation by failing
to appear to serve ten days in jail on 10 Aug 08.
Michael Johnson, age 33, 860 Walsh Road, Vincent, for driving
under a suspended license, for having illegal window tint and
for not wearing a seat belt on 17 Aug 08.
Donald L. Lewis, age 55, 74611 Old 21 Road, Kimbolton, OH,
for an assault and a theft committed on 14 May 08.
Anthony T. Rembert, age 30, 3010 Camden Avenue, Parkersburg,
for aggravated menacing on 21 Aug 08.
Charday M. Underdiown, age 20, 1910 State Route 550, Bartlett,
for failing to appear for trial on 25 Aug 08.
Shawn J. Sims, age 18, 55011 Hudson Road, Reedsville, for
violating the terms of his probation by failing to complete
forty hours of community service or to appear to serve ten
days in jail.
The following individuals
wAS processed into the Washington County Jail:
Robert Corey Wanzo, age 21, 115 Barber Street,
Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony.
Wanzo was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Smith
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 26 Aug 08
at 3:35 pm.
