On 24 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Edward P. Bolino, age 51, 501 Butler Road, Warren,
OH, for traveling 73 mph in a 55 mph zone. Deputy Mankins stopped
Mr. Bolino on State Route 60 near Veto Road in Warren Township.
On 24 Aug 08 Steven R. Haas, age 49, 3400
Rainbow Road, Lowell, reported sometime overnight vandals damaged
his mailbox with an implement that appears to have been a pipe
or baseball bat. This case remains under investigation (610).
On 24 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Kevin P. Nye, age 21, 2516 Mulberry Road, Chesterland,
OH, for traveling operating a vehicle with registration that
expired in March 2008. Deputy Mankins stopped Mr. Nye on US
50 near Clement Avenue in Belpre Township.
On 24 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins encountered
individuals at Lane’s Farm Campground who appeared under
twenty-one years old and were under the influence of alcohol.
When questioned, Michael A. Holton, age 18, 4661 Staunton Turnpike,
Davisville, WV, and a seventeen year old Parkersburg resident
both admitted drinking vodka and orange juice wile at the campground.
While Holton was arrested for underage consumption of alcohol,
the juvenile was released to his mother and summonsed to appear
in Juvenile Court for being delinquent.
On 24 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Andrew A. Naffziger, age 21, 96 ½ North Congress Street
Apt. B, Athens, for operating with an expired license, possession
of drug paraphernalia and possession of drugs. Stopped for
speeding on US 50, a canine indicated the presence of drugs
in Naffziger’s vehicle. The resulting search yielded
a glass pipe with marijuana residue and a sunglasses case containing
a marijuana bud.
On 24 Aug 08 the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department
transported a fifty-four year old Pennsboro, WV resident to
Camden Clark Hospital from the State Route 339 Racetrack in
Barlow. Racing on the track and in third place, the man suddenly
veered across the infield and struck a bank. The victim was
later pronounced deceased at the hospital. Though no foul play
is suspected this case remains open pending the receipt of
autopsy results (586).
On 24 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio arrested
Jason J. Haught, age 28, 810 Lee Street, Belpre, for possession
of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and for driving
under a suspended license. Stopped on US 50 near Main Street
in Belpre for driving outside the marked lanes of travel and
for driving 40 mph in a 55 mph zone, Mr. Haught was found with
a bag of marijuana in his pocket. A subsequent search of Mr.
Haught’s vehicle revealed a pill crusher, six Vicodin
pills and a straw with a white powder residue.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Michael Allen Holton, age 18, 4661 Staunton Turnpike, Davisville,
WV, for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Holton
was arrested on State Route 26 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 08 at 1:29
am.
Jason Scott Wright, age 34, 2202 Murray Street Apt. 4, Belpre,
for assault, a misdemeanor. Wright was arrested on Coal Run
Hill Road by Patrolman Oliver of the Beverly Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Aug 08
at 2:00 am.
William Mark Cox, age 32, 803 Quarry Street, Marietta, for
disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Cox was
arrested on Greene Street by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 24 Aug 08 at 2:23 am.
Bryan Ray Pugh Sr., age 35, 1594 Michaels Road, Marietta,
for .17 breath OVI and for driving left of center, both misdemeanors.
Pugh was arrested on Pike Street by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24
Aug 08 at 3:03 am.
Jason Joe Haught, age 28, 810 Lee Street, Belpre, for driving
under a suspended license, possession of drugs, possession
of drug paraphernalia and for driving outside the marked lanes
of travel, all misdemeanors. Haught was arrested in Belpre
by Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 24 Aug 08 at 1:04 pm.
Andrew Alan Naffziger, age 21, 96 ½ North Congress
Street Apt. B, Athens, for operating with an expired license,
possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of drugs and for
speeding, all misdemeanors. Naffziger was arrested on Interstate
77 by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 24 Aug 08 at 9:33 pm.
