On 14 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Spencer was dispatched
to a single vehicle crash at 2585 Glendale Road, Marietta.
From witness observations Deputy Spencer determined Derek S.
Thompson, age 18, 810 Best Hollow Road, Whipple, was driving
on a gravel driveway when he drove off the driveway and over
a short embankment. Noticing signs of impairment on Mr. Thompson,
Deputy Spencer administered a breath test, the result of which
was .000. When questioned, Mr. Thompson admitted taking two
Klonopin pills for which he had no prescription. Following
his investigation Deputy Spencer arrested Mr. Thompson being
in physical control of a vehicle while under the influence
of drugs/alcohol. Two of Mr. Thompson’s passengers are
also facing charges as a result of the crash. A sixteen year
old Marietta resident will be summonsed into Juvenile Court
on a delinquency charge after he admitted taking two Klonopin
pills. Deputy Spencer will also request a summons for an eighteen
year old Marietta resident to appear in Municipal Court for
underage consumption of alcohol. The suspect admitted consuming
eight beers that evening and tested .129 BAC.
On 14 Aug 08 Jeffery T. Miller, age 41, 1805
Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, reported sometime after 10 Aug several
items he planned to sell as scrap were stolen from his property.
Stolen items with an estimated value of $800 were a 1950’s
model truck, a bath tub, two washers, two dryers and a section
of guardrail. This case remains under investigation (610).
On 14 Aug 08 the owner of Dave’s Auto
Sales, 705 Virginia Street, Marietta, reported a female took
a 1999 Honda Accord from the business for a test drive and
did not return the vehicle. An employee in the business’ office
recognized the woman as Christina Hines, age 38, 832 Third
Street, Marietta, and remarked to her boss, “Do you know
that girl is a criminal that you just let take off in that
car?” Citing the positive identification of the suspect,
Deputy Sheriff Anderson requested a warrant for Ms. Hines for
automobile theft.

were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Derek Scott Thompson, age 18, 810 Best Hollow
Road, Whipple, for being in physical control of a vehicle while
under the influence of drugs/alcohol, a misdemeanor. Thompson
was arrested on Glendale Road in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff
Spencer
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 Aug 08
at 3:30 am.
Tyson Chad Hill, age 26, 175 Goose Run Road,
Marietta, for theft, a felony. Hill was picked up at the Noble
Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 14 Aug 08 at 11:44 am.
Joshua Don Martin, age 28, 3860 State Route 676, Stockport,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Martin turned himself
in to Deputy Sheriff Thorpe and was processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 Aug 08 at 11:54 am.
Amy Jean Morris, age 26, 325 Mitchell’s Lane, Marietta,
for driving under an FRA suspended license and for not wearing
a seat belt, both misdemeanors. Morris was arrested on State
Route 7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 14 Aug 08 at 7:30 pm.
