On 6 Aug 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a
citation to Ester Schechter, age 44, 18370 N. Cranberry Road,
Chagrin Falls, OH, for traveling 67 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy
Thorpe stopped Ms. Schechter on US 50 near Farson Street in
Belpre Township.
On 6 Aug 08 Duane M. Dunn Jr., age 38, 220
Front Drive, New Matamoras, reported his Yamaha Blaster ATV
was stolen from his yard between 10 am on 5 Aug and 7:30 pm
on Aug 6. This case remains under investigation (707).
On 6 Aug 08 the Barlow Volunteer Fire Department
transported a sixty-three year old Barlow resident to Marietta
Memorial Hospital after the man’s sister reported her
brother intentionally ingested an overdose of sleeping pills.
Sgt. Stackpole and Deputy Sheriff Norman found no sign of foul
play at the man’s residence.
On 6 Aug 08 Tyonia Martin, age 48, 681 State
Route 821, Marietta, reported when she arrived home her estranged
husband Earl, age 48, was at her home and asked her to sign
dissolution papers. Mrs. Martin refused, stating instead that
she filed for divorce. Upon hearing that, Mr. Martin flew into
a rage and kicked his wife’s vehicle. Mr. Martin picked
up a tire rim, threatened to kill his wife and drew the rim
back in a throwing motion. Mrs. Martin fled and fell of a retaining
wall onto her driveway, scraping her knees. While Mrs. Martin
received treatment for her minor injuries, her husband absconded.
Deputy Sheriff Thorpe located Mr. Martin in Belpre, arrested
him for domestic violence and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
On 6 Aug 08 David Salzman, age 56, 407 Lawton
Road, Marietta, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect(s)
entered his vehicle and stole his cellular phone, a stethoscope
and fifteen CD’S, a total loss of over $600. This case
remains under investigation (712).
On 6 Aug 08 Lt. Wilson was dispatched to the
scene of a burglary on property owned by Jim Hennig, age 57,
at 1800 Silver Globe Road, Marietta. Mr. Hennig’s girlfriend
reported the doors of a garage on the property were forced
open and that a miter saw was missing. It appears that the
suspect(s) attempted to enter the vacant home on the property
but were unsuccessful in their efforts. This case remains under
investigation (905).
RUNAWAY GIRL FOUND, STOLEN VEHICLE RECOVERED
On 6 Aug 08 Cindy Wallace, age 44, 39410 County Road 78, Lower
Salem, reported finding a vehicle on Cornerville Road that
she reported stolen to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office
on 4 Aug. Ms. Wallace said she believed her fourteen year old
daughter took the vehicle in order to visit Mike Babcock, age
31, 470 Cornerville Road, Marietta, and that she also reported
her daughter missing. Despite Babcock’s assertion that
he had not seen or talked to the girl, witnesses stated they
saw Babcock and the teenager on several occasions over the
past two days. Shortly after Deputies arrived at the scene
the juvenile emerged from the brushes and stated she had been
with Babcock over the past two days. Deputies concluded that
Babcock supplied the girl with food and water during her sabbatical
and attempted to conceal the stolen vehicle in a field near
his residence. For his role in the incident Babcock was arrested
and charged with a felony count of tampering with evidence
and misdemeanor charges of obstructing justice and contributing
to the delinquency of a minor. The child has admitted to having
consensual sexual relations with Babcock and additional charges
are pending.
FELONY WARRANT ISSUED FOR SUSPECT
Following the execution of a search warrant in connection
with the investigation at Mount Wood Park, WV the Major Crimes
Task Force requested and received an arrest warrant for Patrick
R. Slider, age 44, last known address 625 Tower Road, Little
Hocking, for having a weapon while under disability. Slider
is currently free from jail on $60,000 bond and is awaiting
trial for engaging in a pattern of corrupt activity. It is
believed that Slider staged the crime scene at Mount Wood Park
and is on the run. Slider could possibly be carrying a weapon
and should be considered armed and dangerous. Any citizen with
information on the whereabouts of Patrick Slider should immediately
contact their nearest law enforcement agency.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Douglas Richard Morris, age 31, 430 ½ Marr Town Road,
Parkersburg, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Morris was arrested on Barth Road by Sheriff Rhodes and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 6 Aug 08 at 12:06 am.
Daniel Hendrickson Sr., age 54, 775 Gravel Bank Road, Marietta,
for disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Hendrickson was arrested
on Front Street by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
6 Aug 08 at 1:35 am.
Brian Robert Ritchie, age 38, 106 ½ Sacra
Via, Marietta, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor.
Ritchie was arrested at Mound Cemetery by Patrolman Blasko
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 6 Aug 08 at 7:48 pm.
Victor Ira Fred Wells, age 23, 103 Oakwood Avenue, Marietta,
for felony and misdemeanor charges of unlawful possession of
dangerous ordnance. Wells was arrested at his residence by
Patrolman Kampmeier of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 6 Aug 08 at
8:29 pm.
Earl Raymond Martin, age 48, 681 State Route
821, Marietta, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Martin
was arrested on
Barclay Street in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Thorpe and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 6 Aug 08 at 11:03 pm.
