On 28 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks conducted
a traffic stop on an SUV that was speeding on Interstate 77.
The driver, Damario Harriston, age 30, 681 Turney Road Apt.
128C, Bedford, OH, and his passenger and father, Herbert V.
Harriston, age 49, 11721 Jesse Avenue, Cleveland, both appeared
extremely nervous. Prior to writing Harriston a warning for
speeding, Deputy Smeeks conducted a pat down for weapons and
discovered a marijuana joint concealed in a cigar pack. The
find prompted Deputy Smeeks to perform a sniff of the vehicle
using his canine. Following a canine indication of the presence
of drugs, Deputy Smeeks searched the vehicle and found a loaded
.357 revolver hidden in a folded garment bag in the backseat.
As a result of the traffic stop, Deputy Smeeks issued a minor
misdemeanor citation to Damario Harriston for possession of
marijuana and arrested Herbert Harriston for carrying a concealed
weapon.
On 28 Jul 08 Wendell Gage, age 67, Box 236,
Chesterhill, reported sometime during the past few days an
unknown suspect(s) stole two extension cords and a total of
1,850 feet of copper wire from behind a storage shed on his
deceased parents’ property at 384 Patten Mills Road in
Cutler. This case remains under investigation (945).
On 28 Jul 08 Sgt. Stackpole requested a summons
for a fourteen year old Belpre resident to appear in Juvenile
Court for being unruly. The juvenile’s mother said her
son was driving a truck on their property cleaning up debris
and she got scared because he was near a steep embankment.
She stated the teenager became upset when she asked for the
truck keys, ran into a wooded area and would not respond when
she yelled for him. Sgt. Stackpole located the juvenile while
he was en route to the home and returned him to his residence.
On 28 Jul 08 a thirty-six year old Fleming
resident reported he was having personal problems and cut his
wrist with a steak knife. The Warren Fire Department transported
the victim to Marietta Memorial Hospital for treatment and
evaluation (107, 1090).
On 28 Jul 08 Ellen Baker, age 62, 280 Indian
Run Road, Marietta, reported her daughter Christine, age 27,
appeared at their home intoxicated and lunged at her without
provocation. Mrs. Baker said her daughter grabbed her by the
hair and threw her to the floor. Christine’s nine year
old son attempted to intervene to protect his grandmother but
Christine took him by the hair and pushed him against a closet
door. The altercation continued as Mrs. Baker screamed for
help and Christine pushed her to the floor twice more and threatened
to knock out her mother’s teeth. Viewing scratches and
marks on the nine year old and on Mrs. Baker, Deputy Sheriff
Eddy arrested Christine Baker for two counts of domestic violence
and transported her to the Washington County Jail.

Debtor’s Exam and had a warrant issued for their arrest:

John Fury, age 56, 1401 Rayon Drive, Parkersburg.
Randy Smith, age 39, 2390 N. Unionville Road, McConnelsville.
Paul Wise II, age 35, 1201 Liberty Street, Parkersburg.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Michael Eric Hoffert, age 25, 161 Wells Avenue, Marietta,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Hoffert was arrested on Pike Street by
Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 1:13
am.
Stephen Anthony Six, age 18, 13 Deer Mountain Road, Edgewood,
NM, for driving under a suspended license and for driving outside
the marked lanes of travel, both misdemeanors. Six was arrested
on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 1:21 am.
Herbert Victor Harriston, age 49, 11721 Jesse Avenue, Cleveland,
for carrying a concealed weapon, a felony. Harriston was arrested
on Interstate 77 by Sgt. Brockmeier of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 2:14 am.
Eugene Ricky Weldon, age 50, 540 Judson Street, Youngstown,
OH, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and for improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle, all
misdemeanors. Weldon was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio
State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 5:17 am.
Chad Wayne Williams, age 26, 4492 Anderson
Road, Fleming, for failure to comply with the order/signal
of an officer, a felony. Williams was picked up at the Noble
Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 10:05 am.
Crystal Danielle Fox, age 23, 1308 Williamson Avenue Apt.
7D, New Matamoras, for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor.
Fox was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 11:28
am.
Joshua Alan Beaver, age 28, 101 Evans Street Apt. B11, New
Matamoras, for a felony charge of receiving stolen property
and for a misdemeanor charge of domestic violence. Beaver was
picked up at the Scioto Correctional Institution by Deputy
Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 3:50 pm.
Albert Carl Miner IV, age 23, 2549 Bear Run Road, Reno, for
trafficking in drugs, a felony. Miner was picked up at the
Scioto Correctional Institution by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08
at 4:04 pm.
Matthew Floyd Hanshaw, age 32, 1342 91st Street, Cleveland,
for violating the terms of his probation, a misdemeanor. Hanshaw
was picked in Lakewood, OH by Deputy Sheriff Reeder and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 5:09 pm.
Johnathan Elwood Porter, age 29, 213 Welch Street, Dennison,
OH, for contempt of a court order, for driving under a suspended
license and for failing to obey the right of way, all misdemeanors.
Porter was picked up in Tuscarawas County by Deputy Sheriff
Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail on 28
Jul 08 at 5:20 pm.
Shean Daniel Sparks, age 24, 102 Grayling Drive, Marietta,
for violating the terms of his probation, for failure to appear
at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines and for nonsupport
of dependants, all misdemeanors. Sparks was arrested at his
residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 5:39 pm.
Christine Gayle Baker, age 27, 280 Indian Run Road, Marietta,
for two misdemeanor counts of domestic violence. Baker was
arrested at her residence by Sgt. Underwood of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 28 Jul 08 at 9:10 pm.
