On 24 Jul 08 Carlos S. Estadt, age 65, 263
Lynch Church Road, Marietta, reported he was canoeing with
a friend in the vicinity of the Lane’s Farm Campground
when an unknown suspect entered his truck and stole $135 from
his wallet. This case remains under investigation (296).
On 24 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Rhodes issued
a citation to Brandon J. Lott, age 23, 2201 Meadowview Drive,
Parkersburg, for driving under a suspended license. Deputy
Rhodes stopped Mr. Lott on Farson Street at US 50 in Belpre
Township.
On 24 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Lionel J. Gore, age 21, 130 Cemetery Drive, New Matamoras,
for driving under a suspended license and for having a fictitious
registration. Stopping Gore for having plates registered to
a station wagon on his truck, Deputy Mankins was informed by
Dispatch that Gore’s license was suspended. Also as a
result of the stop, Deputy Mankins requested a summons for
a sixteen year old New Matamoras resident to appear in Juvenile
Court for being delinquent. During the stop the teenager, who
smelled of alcohol, admitted drinking a beer as the two drove
around Newport.
STOLEN TRACTORS VALUED AT OVER $30,000 RECOVERED
On 24 Jul 08 Sgt. Brockmeier and Deputy Sheriff Staats received
information on the possible location of two Kubota tractors
that were stolen from Hurst Tractor Sales on 10 May 08. Also
investigating the theft of Kubota and New Holland equipment,
Lt. Boggs and Captain Faber of the Jackson County (WV) Sheriff’s
Office met with an individual who stated he observed his neighbor
Jason Summerfield operating a Kubota tractor and a Kubota utility
vehicle on the adjoining property. Observing a New Holland
tractor and a Kubota utility vehicle parked next to the residence,
Sgt. Brockmeier and Deputy Staats secured the scene while Lt.
Boggs and Captain Faber obtained a search warrant.
Upon executing the warrant the officers located a numerous
tractors, an ATV, a motorcycle, two trailers, a diesel gas
tank, a utility vehicle, numerous chain saws, hand tools and
weed eaters. An NCIC check revealed that all the items were
stolen from West Virginia and Ohio. One of the items, a Kubota
B-26 was positively identified as stolen from Washington County,
OH.
The suspect, Jason Summerfield refused to cooperate and was
arrested for receiving stolen property. Officers attempted
to locate Summerfield’s brother and accomplice, Jay Summerfield,
but were unable to do so. Their search however did yield a
stolen trailer and a stolen Kubota tractor that Jay Summerfield
sold to two people. The VIN of the Kubota BX2350 at the rear
of one residence positively matched that of one stolen from
Hurst.
In all, the value of the recovered items is believed to be
over $200,000. Authorities are still attempting to locate and
interview Jay Summerfield regarding his involvement in this
case.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Anthony Ray Nichols II, age 26, 1348 East Avenue, Columbus,
for escape, a felony. Nichols was arrested at 217 Greene Street
by Patrolman Huffman of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 08
at 1:36 am.
Jason Travis Wells, age 29, 35 Parkville Drive Apt. 10, Parkersburg,
for OVI, for driving left of center and for driving under a
suspended license, all misdemeanors. Wells was arrested in
Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 08 at 3:24 am.
Ricky Joe Dean Morgan, age 31, 3455 Kosky
Drive, Stockport, for multiple felony charges of forgery and
identity theft and for misdemeanor charges of passing bad checks
and obstructing official business. Morgan was arrested on US
50 in Belpre by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 08 at 3:15 pm.
Robert Dale Lang, age 33, 4025 Rutledge Farm Lane, Marshall,
VA, for driving under a suspended license and for failure to
signal, both misdemeanors. Lang was arrested on State Route
7 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 24 Jul 08 at 4:41 pm.
Lionel Justin Gore, age 21, 130 Cemetery Road, New Matamoras,
for a felony charge of violating the terms of his parole and
for misdemeanor charges of driving under an FRA suspended license
and having fictitious plates. Gore was arrested on Greene Street
in Newport by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 24 Jul 08 at 7:40 pm.
