On 17 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a minor misdemeanor citation to Kevin Caplinger, age 47, 1094 Clement Avenue Apt. F, Belpre, for disorderly conduct. Neighbors of Mr. Caplinger complained that they were unable to sleep due to the fact that Mr. Caplinger was yelling obscenities and repeatedly slamming his door.

On 17 Jul 08 a fifty-nine year old Lowell resident reported he has received a number of unwanted phone calls despite his repeated requests for the caller to cease doing so. This case remains under investigation (945).

On 17 Jul 08 Brenda Shriver, age 39, 1242 Righteous Ridge Road, Waterford, reported sometime overnight an unknown suspect threw a rock and shattered the rear window of her 2003 Volkswagen Beetle. This case remains under investigation (712).

On 17 Jul 08 Lt. Huffer began an investigation into an illegal dump site on Swift Road approximately two miles south of Sparling Road in Waterford. Rubbish found at the location includes mattress springs, used diapers and household trash.

On 17 Jul 08 John F. Turner, age 60, Dana’s Run Road, Newport, reported a tenant at a property on Greene Street in Newport issued him a check for $200 for May’s rent and that the check was later returned for insufficient funds. This case remains under investigation (8411).

HOUSE RAIDED, GUN & 71.23 GRAMS OF CRACK COCAINE SEIZED

Agents with the Major Crimes Task Force executed a search warrant early in the evening of 17 Jul at the rear residence at 134 Franklin Street, Marietta. At the time they executed the warrant, Agents discovered a loaded .45 caliber handgun and a large quantity of crack cocaine that had apparently been dropped out of a window. In the room from where the items were dropped, Agents found two individuals identified as Demetrius G. Haley, age 23, 2381 Delavan Drive, Columbus, and Brandon L. Jennings, age 24, 2122 Fenton Street, Columbus. When questioned neither suspect admitted possessing the contraband, instead Haley and Jennings implicated the other in an attempt to allay their own involvement. Jennings and Haley were both arrested and charged with first degree felony charges of possession of cocaine. Additional charges related to the firearm may be forthcoming. Both suspects remain incarcerated pending their initial appearance in Municipal Court this afternoon. Street value of the crack cocaine is valued at between $15,000 and $20,000.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Dale Leroy Buckwald, age 44, 3217 Poe Avenue, Cleveland, for possession of drugs, for driving under a suspended license and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, all misdemeanors. Buckwald was arrested on Interstate 77 by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 4:00 am.

Cameron Andrew Fisher, age 30, Marietta, for two misdemeanor counts of failure to appear. Fisher was arrested on Montgomery Street by Patrolman Arbaugh of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 5:13 am.

Jason Matthew Kirby, age 36, 16321 Huntmere Avenue, Cleveland, for nonsupport of dependants, a misdemeanor. Kirby was arrested at the courthouse by Deputy Sheriff O’Brien and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 10:07 am.

Richard Carl Flood, age 42, 1718 Market Street, Parkersburg, for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Flood was arrested on Muskingum Drive by Patrolman Hively of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 1:44 pm.

Shaun Allen Griffin, age 24, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation, a felony. Griffin was arrested on Franklin Street in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 5:09 pm.

Debra Sue McKnight, age 54, 516 Front Street, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor. McKnight was arrested at the American Legion by Patrolman Caldwell of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 5:20 pm.

Jay Eugene Barker, age 24, 57 Rock Street, Coolville, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Barker was arrested in Belpre by Deputy Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 6:25 pm.

Demetrius Glen Haley, age 23, 2381 Delavan Drive, Columbus, for possession of drugs, a felony. Haley was arrested on Franklin Street by Detective Smithberger of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 6:39 pm.

Brandon Lamar Jennings, age 24, 2122 Fenton Street, Columbus, for possession of drugs, a felony. Jennings was arrested on Franklin Street by Detective Smithberger of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 7:50 pm.

Ronald Wayne Gilbert, age 43, 201 State Route 821, Lower Salem, for driving under a suspended license, a misdemeanor. Gilbert was arrested on State Route 821 by Deputy Sheriff McLeish and processed into the Washington County Jail on 17 Jul 08 at 7:55 pm.
