On 9 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Carr arrested Todd
A. Covey, age 40, 4101 Newells Run Road, Marietta, for assault.
Apparently upset after being admonished about his excessive
drinking, Covey attacked an acquaintance next to a lot at 1045
Sandhill Road where he was helping a friend install an air
conditioner. The victim, Debra Ward, age 37, 160 Dawes Circle,
Marietta, said Mr. Covey slapped her, grabbed her by the hair
and arm and bent her over. Ms. Ward further stated that Mr.
Covey only released her when she grabbed his genitals and he
punched her in the face before he fled.
On 9 Jul 08 Danielle M. McCauley, age 19,
1007 Long Run Road, Newport, reported she feared for her safety
during an incident with her live-in boyfriend Mark D. Pierce,
age 26. Ms. McCauley said she recently argued with her boyfriend
of an amorous exploit and was locked inside their bathroom
when Mr. Pierce burst open the door. Pierce grabbed his girlfriend,
shoved her into their bedroom and threatened to beat her “like
my dad used to beat my mom.” Pierce calmed down and was
later arrested by Deputy Sheriff Simmons for domestic violence.
On 9 Jul 08 Sgts. Stackpole and Underwood
began an investigation into the death of a forty year old Cutler
resident. Though the woman’s death does not appear suspicious,
this case remains open pending the receipt of autopsy results.
On 9 Jul 08 Carl J. Pollard, age 39, 95 Sandhill
Road, Marietta, reported when he arrived at work that morning
he noticed that an unknown individual vandal used red spray
paint to vandalize the passenger side door of his vehicle.
This case remains under investigation (610).
On 9 Jul 08 Lt. Wilson arrested Jackie L.
McJessy, age 39, 618 Third Street, Stonewood, WV, for tampering
with drugs, trafficking in drugs, OVI, driving outside the
marked lanes of travel and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Conducting a traffic stop on State Route 821 near exit six,
Lt. Wilson noticed Ms. McJessy appeared extremely intoxicated,
was slurring her speech and swaying back and forth. Though
Ms. McJessy stated she last took Xanax at 2 pm the prior afternoon
she appeared drowsy at 1:40 am. Inside McJessy’s vehicle
Lt. Wilson found Xanax and Vicodin in an unlabeled container
as well as a Mountain Dew can and plastic bag with suspected
cocaine residue and eight additional bags of suspected crack
cocaine. Ms. McJessy confirmed she used the soda can to smoke
the cocaine. Ms. McJessy said she couldn’t purchase crack
in Clarksburg and was on her way home from Cambridge where
she purchased crack for herself and her friends.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Jackie Lynn McJessy, age 39, 618 Third Street,
Stonewood, WV, for felony charges of tampering with drugs and
trafficking in drugs and for misdemeanor charges of OVI, driving
outside the marked lanes of travel and possession of drug paraphernalia.
McJessy was arrested on Interstate 77 by Lt. Wilson of the
Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 9 Jul 08 at 3:32 am.
Todd Allan Covey, age 40, 4101 Newells Run
Road, Marietta, for assault, a misdemeanor. Covey was arrested
on Long Run Road by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into
the Washington County Jail on 9 Jul 08 at 10:03 pm.
Robert Norton Mease Jr., age 31, 1320 Colonial Drive, Marietta,
for domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Mease was arrested at
Save A Lot by Patrolman Thomas of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
9 Jul 08 at 10:14 pm.
