On 8 Jul 08 Lauren Rummer, age 18, 135 Vanfossen
Road, Lowell, reported she was traveling northbound on Cats
Creek Road when the driver of a two door Buick accelerated
up from behind her vehicle. The driver, whom she recognized
as Rebecca Sergent, age 18, 1320 Caywood Road, Marietta, pulled
up next to her and swerved her vehicle in attempt to force
her off the road. Ms. Sergent then swerved and braked abruptly,
forcing Ms. Rummer to skid to a stop. At that point Ms. Sergent
exited her vehicle and began banging on the driver’s
side window of Ms. Rummer’s car and shouting obscenities.
Ms. Rummer escaped without harm and phoned for help from her
residence. Even though Ms. Sergent asserted she was not in
the vicinity of the incident, Deputy Sheriff Staats located
skid marks on the roadway consistent with Ms. Rummer’s
statement. In consequence, Deputy Staats requested a summons
for Ms. Sergent for aggravated menacing.
On 8 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a
minor misdemeanor citation to Brian K. Jones, age 31, 28 Plymouth
Lane, Erlanger, KY, for possession of marijuana. Stopping Mr.
Jones for following another vehicle too closely on State Route
7, Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of drugs
in the vehicle. The search that followed yielded two marijuana
joints.
On 8 Jul 08 Darrell L. Johnson, age 35, 29320
State Route 7, Marietta, reported sometime since the afternoon
of 5 Jul an unknown suspect(s) stole from his property on the
Ohio River, a ten foot john boat containing a six horsepower
motor, fuel tank, two tackle boxes and seven fishing poles.
This case remains under investigation (792).
On 8 Jul 08 Carole Carter, age 20, 172 Stanley
Road, Lower Salem, reported one of several friends who stayed
at her home overnight may have stolen her prescription bottles
containing Percocet, Wellbutrin and Flexeril. This case remains
under investigation (515).
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Brian Timothy Sawyer, age 28, 809 Fifth Street,
Belpre, for OVI, for driving under an FRA suspended license
and for driving left of center, all misdemeanors. Sawyer was
arrested on Veto Road by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 08 at 3:05
am.
Pedrito Apoong Galupo, age 73, 501 Fifth Street,
Marietta, for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Galupo
was arrested on Maple Street in Marietta by Detective Alkire
of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 08 at 1:30 pm.
Branda Arlene Bennington, age 37, State Route 550, Marietta,
for violating the terms of her probation, a misdemeanor. Bennington
was arrested at the office of Probation Officer Gilchrist and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 8 Jul 08 at 1:58
pm.
