On 5 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins issued
a citation to Jonathan P. Sheppard, age 27, Route 4 Box 131A,
Mineral Wells, for not stopping at a stop light. Deputy Mankins
stopped Mr. Sheppard after he failed to stop at the intersection
of Front and Butler Streets in Marietta.
On 5 Jul 08 Teresa D. Tilton, age 38, 12622
State Route 60, Lowell, reported being threatened by her husband.
Investigating the matter further, Deputy Simmons determined
no threat or physical assault took place. Therefore, Deputy
Simmons closed this case as unfounded.
On 5 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Thorpe issued a
citation to Cheryl L. Jones, age 42, 8530 State Route 260,
New Matamoras, for operating an unsafe vehicle. Deputy Thorpe
stopped Ms. Jones for having a cracked windshield that obstructed
her view on State Route 26 near McGregor Road in Ludlow Township.
On 5 Jul 08, while on foot patrol for the
demolition derby at the fairgrounds, Deputy Sheriffs Smeeks
and Thorpe responded to the report of a fight behind the grandstands.
One of the suspects, Andrew M. Russell, age 22, 806 Fifth Street,
Marietta, remained at the scene and became loud and obnoxious,
wanting to tell his side of the story. Arrested for disorderly
conduct, Mr. Russell continued to spout obscenities and challenged
the Deputies to fight him off duty. Also refusing to enter
the back of the cruiser, Mr. Russell was additionally charged
with resisting arrest.
On 5 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio arrested
Luke D. Stout, age 19, 92 Hickory Flat Road, Buckhannon, WV,
for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and
for failing to properly display his license plates. Unable
to read the vehicle’s plate that was in the rear window
of the vehicle, Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Stout on State
Route 7 near Tennis Center Drive. Mr. Stout was highly agitated,
argumentative and had glassy, bloodshot eyes. Smelling marijuana,
Deputy Travaglio searched the vehicle and found a bag of marijuana
and marijuana pipe. When questioned, Mr. Stout said the contraband
belonged to him and that he smokes marijuana because he doesn’t
believe it should be illegal.
On 5 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff Mankins arrested
Austin W. Wright, age 18, 209 Second Street, Lower Salem, for
underage consumption of alcohol. En route to the Fox Den, an
aluminum can flew out of the back of Mr. Wright’s truck
and struck Deputy Mankins’ cruiser. Questioned inside
the Fox Den, Mr. Wright had an odor of alcohol and admitted
consuming two or three beers.
On 5 Jul 08 Sgt. Stackpole and Deputy Sheriffs
McLeish and Simmons responded to a domestic dispute call at
2020 Bear Run Road, Reno. Meeting the Deputies at the end of
the driveway, Suzanne Selsor, age 54, said her husband Ronald,
age 47, was assaulted by their son the previous day and had
a wound on his head. Inconsistent with Mrs. Selsor’s
claim, the Deputies observed Mr. Selsor’s forehead and
nose were still bleeding. Mr. Selsor stated he was seated in
his chair when his wife began punching him. He said he fell
to the floor and his wife kicked him in the head and ribs three
or four times and then quit. Blood evidence of the assault
was visible on Mrs. Selsor’s shoes in corroboration of
Mr. Selsor’s account. As a result, Mrs. Selsor was arrested
for domestic violence and transported to the Washington County
Jail.
On 5 Jul 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio arrested
Donald Burnett Sr., age 58, 138 Rauch Drive, Marietta, for
OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel. Stopped
after weaving onto the shoulder of the roadway, Mr. Burnett
slurred his speech and could not maintain his balance when
he exited his vehicle. Following his poor performance on field
sobriety tests Mr. Burnett was transported to the Washington
County Jail where he tested .172 BAC.

Clayton Randall Styer, age 22, Greene Street, Marietta, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Styer was arrested on Pike Street in Marietta
by Patrolman Blasko of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at
12:22 am.
Peggy Sue Wells, age 41, 707 Fourth Street, New Matamoras,
for illegally possessing/discharging fireworks, a misdemeanor.
Wells was arrested on Third Street in New Matamoras by Chief
Bourne of the New Matamoras Police Department and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 1:14 am.
Lionel Justin Gore, age 21, 130 Cemetery Drive, New Matamoras,
for a felony charge of assault and for misdemeanor charges
of resisting arrest and disorderly conduct by intoxication.
Gore was arrested on Main Street in New Matamoras by Deputy
Sheriff Lockhart and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 5 Jul 08 at 1:39 am.
David Allen Zollars, age 39, 1738 Euclid Avenue, Wickliffe,
OH, for OVI, driving under a suspended license and for speeding,
all misdemeanors. Zollars was arrested on State Route 7 by
the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 2:48 am.
Christopher E. Brooker, age 22, 346 Indian Run Road, Marietta,
for selling fireworks without a license, a misdemeanor. Brooker
was arrested in New Matamoras by Officer Schwendeman of the
New Matamoras Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 4:50 am.
Kyle John Davis, age 24, 1905 Pleasant Ridge Road, New Matamoras,
for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Davis
was arrested in New Matamoras by Chief Bourne of the New Matamoras
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 4:50 am.
Harold Lee Yoho, age 31, 535 Coal Run Road, Marietta, for
disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Yoho was
arrested in New Matamoras by the Sheriff’s Office and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 4:50
am.
Dustin Lee Brooks, age 21, 1358 Masonic Park Road, Marietta,
for driving under an FRA suspended license, a misdemeanor.
Brooks was arrested on State Route 60 by the Ohio State Highway
Patrol and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul
08 at 6:24 pm.

OVI and for driving outside the marked lanes of travel, both
misdemeanors. Burnett was arrested at Go Mart in Marietta by
Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 7:06 pm.
Austin William Wright, age 18, 209 Second Street, Lower Salem,
for underage consumption of alcohol, a misdemeanor. Wright
was arrested at the Fox Den by Deputy Sheriff Mankins and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 8:30 pm.
Luke David Stout, age 19, 92 Hickory Flat Road, Buckhannon,
WV, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia
and for having expired plates, all misdemeanors. Stout was
arrested on State Route 7 by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at 8:36 pm.
Andrew Michael Russell, age 22, 806 Fifth Street, Marietta,
for disorderly conduct and for resisting arrest, both misdemeanors.
Russell was arrested at the fairgrounds by Deputy Sheriff Smeeks
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 5 Jul 08 at
9:33 pm.
