On 24 Jun 08 Lt. Huffer and Sgt. Brockmeier
were dispatched to the scene of a domestic dispute at 17315
State Route 339, Waterford. Upset over his arrest in Beverly
earlier that morning for driving under a suspended license,
Curt Husk, age 41, wanted to start or continue drinking at
10:30 am. His wife Joann, age 32, thought otherwise and dumped
out her husband’s bottle of hard lemonade. Mr. Husk entered
their garage with his alcohol, locked the door and began yelling.
Mrs. Husk entered the garage at which point Mr. Husk stated
to a friend on the phone to “come get him or he would
kill someone.” Mr. Husk realized shortly thereafter his
wife phoned for help and pushed her into and held her against
a wall. Mrs. Husk escaped and her husband entered the garage
with an ax and destroyed his cell phone. Soon after that the
deputies arrived and arrested Mr. Husk for domestic violence
without further incident.
On 24 Jun 08 witnesses reported an unknown
male and female were causing a disturbance in the parking lot
of the Lakeside Motel in Beverly. En route, Sgt. Stackpole
and Deputy Sheriff Simmons were informed the subjects’ new
location was 419 Fifth Street. The male suspect, Saul Zuniga,
age 27, 117 Elm Street, Beverly, said he was arguing with his
wife over money and when he gave her the money in question
she left the scene. Mr. Zuniga had an odor of alcohol and could
not provide an address other than that it was a trailer in
Beverly. Arrested for disorderly conduct by intoxication, Mr.
Zuniga faces additional federal charges for being an illegal
alien.
On 24 Jun 08 passersby reported a male subject
was slumped over in the driver’s seat of vehicle and
that the vehicle has been in the same position near the end
of Wrights Road for nearly two hours. When Deputy Sheriff Mankins
arrived the Reno Fire Department was treating the driver who
was identified as Michael J. Babcock, age 31, 470 Cornerville
Road, Marietta. On the floor of the car Deputy Mankins discovered
two pill bottles bearing Babcock’s name that were filled
on 20 Jun. Quick calculations of the prescribed doses for the
generic forms of Xanax and Percocet revealed that if taken
properly there should be seventy-five of each pills remaining.
However, Deputy Mankins counted thirty-nine Xanax and fourteen
Vicodin pills. Transported to Marietta Memorial Hospital and
treated for a drug overdose, Babcock was later released and
arrested for failing to reinstate his operator’s license
