On 21 Jun 08 Delbert Hicks, age 68, 111 Strecker
Hill, Marietta, received treatment for injuries at Marietta
Memorial Hospital after being attacked by his housemate, Debbie
K. Mercer, age 51. Mr. Hicks was asleep in his camper at the
Ashland RV campground when Ms. Mercer entered his camper and
grabbed a steel coffee pot. Ms. Mercer whaled on Mr. Hicks’ head
and body until a witness dragged her out of the camper by her
feet. Though Ms. Mercer claimed she only hit Mr. Hicks wither
her hand, a bloodied and dented metal coffee pot was evidence
of her more brutal attack. As a result, Ms. Mercer was arrested
for assault and transported to the Washington County Jail.
On 21 Jun 08 Sgt. Stackpole issued a citation
to Jason Gore, age 23, 130 Cemetery Drive, New Matamoras, for
traveling 69 mph in a 55 mph zone. Sgt. Stackpole stopped Mr.
Gore on State Route 7 near milepost thirty-five in Newport
Township.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
Barbara Ann Smith, age 30, 100 Route 2 Box 255B, New Martinsville,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Smith was arrested at the Locker Room
in Marietta by Patrolman McCracken of the Marietta City Police
Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on
21 Jun 08 at 3:17 am.
Eduardo Andres Cid, age 26, 2073 30th Street, Cleveland, for
OVI, for following to closely and for driving outside the marked
lanes of travel, all misdemeanors. Cid was arrested on Putnam
Street in Marietta by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 08 at 3:50 am.
John Christopher Fortney, age 19, 4350 State Route 530, Lowell,
for a felony charge of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor
and for a misdemeanor charge of violating the terms of his
probation. Fortney was arrested on Sixth Street in Marietta
by Patrolman Heddleston of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 21 Jun 08
at 12:37 pm.
