On 27 May 08 Ronald Church, age 55, 1717 McGill
Road, Belpre, reported a 250 foot spool of electrical wire
he was using to construct a new garage was stolen from his
property on either 23 or 24 May. This case remains under investigation
(790).
On 27 May 08 an employee of Evergreen Memorial
Yards, 2710 State Route 339, Belpre, reported fifty or sixty
World War II flag staffs, valued between $15 and $20, were
broken and/or stolen from grave sites the previous day. This
case remains under investigation (1293).
On 27 May 08 Carlton D. Theobald, age 76,
850 Jett Hill Road, Newport, reported at some point between
10 and 20 May an unknown suspect(s) stole four black angus
calves from his property, a loss of $600. This case remains
under investigation (1184).
On 27 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Reeder charged
Andrew Carey, age 22, 126 Westmoreland Court Apt. 3, Danville,
VA, with theft and obstructing official business. An inmate
worker at the Washington County Jail, Carey was returning to
the jail after collecting litter on 23 May when he swiped an
open envelope with his name on it from on top of a counter.
Containing a money order already credited to his inmate account,
Carey mailed the money order back to his girlfriend and intended
to have the jail reimburse him for the lost money. Carey repeatedly
denied taking the money order but later recanted and admitted
taking it.
On 27 May 08 Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio arrested
Matthew S. Nixon, age 26, 205 Third Street, Beverly, for driving
under an FRA suspended license, for driving outside the marked
lanes of travel, for possession of drugs and for possession
of drug paraphernalia. Searching for a suspect in the vicinity
of Colegate Drive, Deputy Travaglio stopped Nixon’s vehicle
for a traffic violation and because he matched the suspect’s
identifiers. Driving under multiple license suspensions, Nixon
was in possession of a tube containing eight burnt marijuana
joints and a small bag of marijuana.
On 27 May 08 an anonymous caller reported
two suspicious males possibly engaged in drug activity entered
a residence at 1200 Lynch Church Road, Marietta. Speaking to
the homeowner, Deputy Sheriff S. Travaglio was granted permission
to enter the home and spoke to the homeowner’s son Aaron
J. Buckley, age 21. Inside Deputy Travaglio saw in plain view,
a copious amount of drug paraphernalia, specifically marijuana
joints, a large glass bong and another glass pipe. A more intensive
search also produced marijuana and a set of scales that were
concealed in a bag of dog food. As a result, Deputy Travaglio
arrested Mr. Buckley for possession of drugs and possession
of drug paraphernalia and transported him to the Washington
County Jail.
The following individuals
were processed into the Washington County Jail:
William Arthur Murphy III, age 36, 208 Maple
Street, Marietta, for violating the terms of his probation,
a misdemeanor. Murphy was arrested at the office of Probation
Officer Hamilton and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 27 May 08 at 11:57 am.
Teri Lynn Long, age 31, 2087 Barth Road, Belpre, for failure
to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines, a misdemeanor.
Long was arrested at her residence by Deputy Sheriff Carr and
processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 08 at 5:59
pm.
Marcus Rayshawn Pearson, age 19, 907 Ada Street, Akron, for
passing bad checks, a misdemeanor. Pearson was picked up at
the Summit County jail by Deputy Sheriff Underwood and processed
into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 08 at 6:30 pm.
Matthew Sanford Nixon, age 26, 205 Third Street, Beverly,
for driving under an FRA suspended license, for driving outside
the marked lanes of travel, for possession of drugs and for
possession of drug paraphernalia, all misdemeanors. Nixon was
arrested on Hadley Lane in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 08
at 7:22 pm.
William Leonard Parker Sr., age 37, 107 Walnut Street, Belpre,
for failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid
fines, a misdemeanor. Parker was arrested on Fourth Street
in Marietta by Deputy Sheriff Carr and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 27 May 08 at 8:45 pm.
Bryan Andrew Huff, age 38, 24 Colegate Drive, Marietta, for
domestic violence, a misdemeanor. Huff was arrested at his
residence by Patrolman Newell of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 27 May 08
at 10:45 pm.
Aaron James Buckley, age 21, 1200 Lynch Church Road, Marietta,
for a felony charge of violating the terms of his probation
and for misdemeanor charges of possession of drugs and possession
of drug paraphernalia. Buckley was arrested at his residence
by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 27 May 08 at 11:12 pm.
