On 16 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio issued a citation to Jason B. Whittaker, age 30, 22781 State Route 60, Beverly, for passing a vehicle over a double yellow line. Deputy Travaglio stopped Mr. Whittaker on State Route 60 near Lowell Hill Road in Lowell.

On 16 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Lockhart issued a citation to Matthew R. Miller, age 20, 406 Potomac Court, Wexford, PA, for traveling 75 mph in a 50 mph zone. Deputy Lockhart stopped Mr. Miller on State Route 7 near Braun Road in Belpre Township.

On 16 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Tucker observed a backseat passenger in a passing vehicle attempting to light what appeared to be a pipe. Smelling burnt marijuana as he approached the stopped vehicle, Deputy Tucker noticed two open cans of Busch Light on the front and back floors of the vehicle. One of the backseat passengers, Jonathon T. Humphreys, age 27, 36150 Rock Springs Road, Pomeroy, admitted the beer and a marijuana pipe found in the back of the vehicle. When questioned, the front seat passenger Brian C. Young, age 28, 804 E. Main Street, Pomeroy, admitted drinking from the beer in the front seat. As a result, Humphreys and Young were issued minor misdemeanor citations for possessing an open container of alcohol. Humphreys was also issued a summons for possession of drug paraphernalia.

On 16 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Smeeks issued a citation to Keith J. McCafferty, age 21, 305 Edgewood Road, Pittsburgh, PA, for traveling 71 mph in a 55 mph zone. During the stop on State Route 7, Deputy Smeeks’ canine indicated the presence of drugs in the vehicle which was owned by the front seat passenger, Jordan Mock, age 18, 301 Artman Avenue, Lebanon, IN. Ms. Mock confirmed there were drugs in the vehicle and revealed a glass marijuana pipe and a small bag of marijuana. As a result, Deputy Smeeks requested a summons for Ms. Mock for possession of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia.

On 16 May 08 Emily Chandler, age 28, 9110 State Route 550, Vincent, reported that evening she received a phone call from her ex-boyfriend, a violation of a protection order she has against him. Listening to a message left on Ms. Chandler’s answering machine, Deputy Sheriff Staats requested a warrant for David W. Evans, age 32, 16120 State Route 821, Elba, for violating the terms of a protection order.

On 16 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio arrested Shawn J. Sims, age 18, 55011 Hudson Road, Reedsville, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and for having a defective exhaust. Mr. Sims consented to a search of his vehicle, during which Deputy Travaglio found a pack of rolling papers. Mr. Sims acted nervously when questioned about the papers and Deputy Travaglio then noticed a plastic bag sticking out of Mr. Sims pocket. Inside the bag were two burnt marijuana joints Mr. Sims said he bought in Meigs County.

the Sheriff’s Office received the following warrants:

Andrew McDonald, age 42, 1824 Carol Ann Avenue, Ypsilanti, MI, for operating a vehicle without a license and for having expired plates on 4 May 08.

Alicia D. Miller, age 24, 209 Fifth Street Ext., Lowell, for contempt of a court order on 7 May 08.

Al L. Smith, age 28, 720 30th Street, Parkersburg, for failing to appear for pretrial on 13 May 08.

Francis Zuspan, age 57, 11 Hollingshead Road, Wellston, OH, for issuing a bad check to Schott’s Repair Service on 9 Feb 08.

The following individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:

Gale Allen Hendershot, age 43, 5215 State Route 260, New Matamoras, for .08 breath OVI, a misdemeanor. Hendershot was arrested on State Route 260 by Deputy Sheriff Eddy and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 08 at 1:15 am.

Stephanie Marie Dowd, age 22, 2895 Reeves Road, Willoughby, OH, for disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Dowd was arrested on the campus of Marietta College by Officer Lumpkins of the Marietta College Police Department and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 08 at 1:30 am.

Shawn Joseph Sims, age 18, 55011 Hudson Road, Reedsville, for possession of drugs, possession of drug paraphernalia and for having a defective e exhaust, all misdemeanors. Sims was arrested on State Route 7 in Reno by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 08 at 6:00 pm.

Deborah Suzanne Sandy, age 43, 35072 Cats Creek Road, Macksburg, for operating without a license, for permitting an unlicensed driver to operate her vehicle and for having fictitious plates, all misdemeanors. Sandy Sims was arrested on State Route 60 in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 08 at 9:56 pm.

Stephen Michael Six, age 40, 35072 Cats Creek Road, Macksburg, for driving under an FRA suspended license and for having fictitious plates, both misdemeanors. Six Sims was arrested on State Route 60 in Lowell by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington County Jail on 16 May 08 at 10:00 pm.
