On 14 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Tucker issued
a citation to Samuel S. Hughes, age 19, 1285 Faulkenberry Ridge
Road, King, NC, for not wearing a seat belt. Deputy Tucker
stopped Mr. Hughes for speeding on Interstate 77 near milepost
eleven in Salem Township.
On 14 May 08 Deputy Sheriff Travaglio investigated
reports of two suspicious vehicles operating in Waterford Township.
Locating a red Ford Escort, Deputy Travaglio saw the vehicle
was blocking the southbound lane of Luke Chute Road. When he
spoke to the driver, Raymond W. Delancey, age 21, 713 Briggs
Hill Road, Belpre, Deputy Travaglio noticed an odor of marijuana.
Asked about the odor, Mr. Delancey said he smoked marijuana
prior to Deputy Travaglio’s arrival and also that there
were rolling papers and marijuana in the glove compartment.
As a result, Deputy Travaglio arrested Mr. Delancey for possession
of drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia and transported
him to the Washington County Jail.
On 14 May 08 a passerby reported seeing a
male subject lying along the roadway on Sandhill Road near
Jett Hill Road. Deputy Sheriff Mankins located the subject,
identified as Timothy Smith, age 49, 5745 Sandhill Road, Marietta,
and noticed his clothing was not torn or scuffed but that he
did have a small amount of blood on his lip. Smelling of alcohol
and unable to provide further information, Mr. Smith was transported
to Marietta Memorial Hospital for evaluation. This case remains
under investigation.
DRUG TRAFFICKING ARRESTS
In conclusion to numerous investigations into drug trafficking,
the earliest of which began in October 2007, teams of Detectives
with the Major Crimes Task Force and marked units of the Sheriff’s
Office and Marietta City Police Department arrested seven individuals.
The suspects arrested and their respective charges are:
The aforementioned suspects are incarcerated in the Washington
County Jail pending their initial appearance in Marietta Municipal
Court tomorrow.
MARIJUANA TRAFFICKING ARREST
Earlier this month Agents with the MCTF utilized an undercover
operative to make controlled purchases of marijuana from Jo
Ann Mayle, age 49, 16718 Sweat Road, Amesville. Each of the
transactions, one of which taking place in the presence of
a child, involved the purchase of less than 200 grams of marijuana.
Agents executed a search warrant at Mayle’s residence
yesterday and confiscated items supporting a charge of trafficking
in drugs. Subsequent to the search Mayle was arrested for a
fourth degree felony charge of trafficking in marijuana in
the presence of a child and transported to the Southeast Ohio
Regional Jail. Mayle has since been released from jail and
is free on bond.
THe following
individuals were processed into the Washington County Jail:
John Phillip Carter, age 38, 127 Brentwood
Street, Marietta, for four felony counts of trafficking in
drugs. Carter was arrested at his residence by Detective Nohe
of the Marietta City Police Department and processed into the
Washington County Jail on 14 May 08 at 10:19 am.
James Lee Allen, age 55, 1415 Lancaster Street Apt. 6C, Marietta,
for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Allen was arrested
at his residence by Detective Gherke of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 10:30 am.
Tonya Sue Davis, age 38, 1612 Hill Street, Belpre, for trafficking
in drugs, a felony. Davis was arrested at her residence by
Detective Smithberger of the Washington County Sheriff’s
Office and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14
May 08 at 11:00 am.
Jason James Corp, age 34, 735 Eighth Street Apt. 2, Marietta,
for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Corp was arrested
at his residence by Detective Gherke of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 11:15 am.
Clarence Franklin Beegle, age 64, 206 Second Street, New Matamoras,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Beegle was arrested at
his residence by Detective Schuck of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 11:40 am.
Barbara Ellen Beegle, age 57, 206 Second Street, New Matamoras,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Beegle was arrested at
her residence by Detective Schuck of the Washington County
Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 12:15 pm.
Denise Rochelle Nichols, age 45, 7 Miller Lane, Caldwell,
for two felony counts of trafficking in drugs. Nichols was
picked up in Noble County by Detective Johnson of the Washington
County Sheriff’s Office and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 May 08 at 12:45 pm.
Jimmy Lee Stepp, age 24, 17111 Millschool Road, Guysville,
OH, for breaking and entering and theft, both felonies. Stepp
was picked up at the Pickaway Correctional Institution by Deputy
Sheriff Reeder and processed into the Washington County Jail
on 14 May 08 at 1:43 pm.
Glenna May Blair, age 28, 687 Wynncrest Drive, Marietta, for
failure to appear at a court ordered hearing on unpaid fines,
a misdemeanor. Blair was arrested at the Salvation Army in
Marietta by Patrolman Nedeff of the Marietta City Police Department
and processed into the Washington County Jail on 14 May 08
at 3:12 pm.
Warren Stephen Lee Tucker, age 26, 712 Clement Avenue Apt.
B, Belpre, for violating the terms of his parole, a misdemeanor.
Tucker was arrested at his residence by Patrolman Stump of
the Belpre City Police Department and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 May 08 at 5:29 pm.
Casey Lee Hoover, age 22, 165 Meadows Mobile Home Park, Parkersburg,
for contempt of a court order, a misdemeanor. Hoover was arrested
on Riley Drive in Marietta by Patrolman Hilverding of the Marietta
City Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 5:49 pm.
David Richard Martindell, age 27, 1005 Front Street, Marietta,
for trafficking in drugs, a felony. Martindell was arrested
at his residence by Patrolman Ellenwood of the Marietta City
Police Department and processed into the Washington County
Jail on 14 May 08 at 6:57 pm.
Raymond Wayne Delancey, age 21, 713 Briggs Hill Road, Belpre,
for possession of drugs and for possession of drug paraphernalia,
both misdemeanors. Delancey was arrested on Luke Chute Road
by Deputy Sheriff Travaglio and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 May 08 at 8:13 pm.
Ian Maxwell Young, age 28, 1400 Meade Avenue, Sturgis, SD,
for receiving stolen property, a misdemeanor. Young was arrested
on Dana Road by Deputy Sheriff Day and processed into the Washington
County Jail on 14 May 08 at 11:02 pm.
