On 9 May 08 Joy J. Grimes, age 72, 612 Third Street, New Matamoras, reported she was walking her dog when she noticed a door pried open on a garage belonging to her son at 201 Main Street. Ms. Grimes stated she believes her daughter in law entered the garage and took a large quantity of tools and camping supplies. Interviewing the daughter in law, Deputy Sheriff Simmons learned the couple is estranged and seeking a divorce. Deputy Simmons determined as of now the items taken are marital property and the matter civil.

On 9 May 08 Seth T. Adams, age 23, 997 Gilman Avenue, Marietta, an employee of Magnum Magnetics, 801 Masonic Park Road, Marietta, severed the tips of his right middle and ring fingers while operating a machine at the facility. The injury, not life threatening, was deemed accidental and required minor surgery at Marietta Memorial Hospital (1184).
